Doohamlet Club Notes 28.09.2023

Doohamlet G.F.C. Results:  Our U-15s team St. Kevins played Rockcorry in the final of the Bogue Food Hall Div 3 championship on Saturday evening, after a hard-fought game we came away defeated by three points.  Many thanks to the team and management for all their hard work and commitment throughout the season.   

 

Our Senior team played in the Mc Elvaney Waste & Recycling Intermediate Football Championship relegation game on Sunday afternoon the 24th of September. The weather conditions were appalling throughout the game.  Doohamlet got the first score of the game with a free taken by Captain Barry Mc Bennett followed by a point from Jamie Walshe, Toome hit back with a goal and two points giving them an early lead.  However, with a further four points from Barry Mc Bennett and a point from Ciarán Markey, Doohamlet nudged ahead by a point at half-time. The half-time score was Doohamlet 0-7 Toome 1-3.  Kevin Mc Ardle replaces Niall J Connolly.  Doohamlet took control of the game in the second half opening up the scoring with two points from Barry Mc Bennett.  Eoin Coleman replaces Hugh Mc Ginn and David Mc Ginn replaces Eoin Markey.  Barry Mc Bennett puts another over the bar.  Toome are awarded a penalty which they convert.  Barry McGinn gets a point from play and Toome hits their first point of the half.  Substitute Eoin Coleman puts Doohamlet two points ahead with a fine score and Captain Barry Mc Bennett hits his ninth point of the afternoon to give Doohamlet a three-point victory.  The final score was Doohamlet 0-13 Toome 2-4.  Well done to the team and management on their win.  Team: James Casey, Damien Ward, Conor Marray, Jason Mc Elroy, Darren Connolly, Colin Walshe, Sean Markey, Jamie Walshe (0-1) Eoin Markey, Ciarán Mc Manus, Barry Mc Bennett,Capt.(0-9) Hugh Mc Ginn, Barry Mc Ginn (0-1) Niall J Connolly, Ciarán Markey (0-1).  Subs Used: Kevin Mc Ardle, Eoin Coleman (0-1) David Mc Ginn. 

Congratulations to Colin & Karen Walshe on the birth of their baby girl and to James & Charlene Casey on the birth of their baby boy.  

Fixtures: Our Senior team plays Clones in round 2 of the Intermediate Football Relegation Group in Clones this Saturday at 4.30 pmBest of luck to the team and management. 

On Sunday the 1st of October our U-17s play Na Mullai Sarsfields in the Division 3B, Group B, Round 3 Championship, at 12 noon in Doohamlet. 

 

Brigid O Neills Ladies Club drew with Castleblayney ladies in the Intermediate Final on Sunday afternoon last.  The reply is on Friday the 29th of September in Aughnamullen at 6.45 pm.  As we have representatives on both teams, we wish them all the best of luck.   

 

Blotto results for the week beginning the 25th of September 2023.  The numbers drawn were 3,4,1,7,5,2,6.  There was no jackpot winner, the lucky dip winners were Anne Coleman, Oghill.  Cissie Mc EneaneyCorleanamaddy.  Aodhán Mc Kenna, Tonyglasson.  The Moore Family, Coislocha.  Lisa Mc Manus, Grigg.  Thank you for your continued support, next week’s jackpot will stand at €10.000.
