2023 Monaghan Club Men’s Football Championship commences this weekend

The 2023 Monaghan Club Championships start this weekend. In the Greenfield Foods Senior Football Championship, our senior men drew Donaghmoyne, Inniskeen, Clontibret and Magheracloone and are in Group 2. The fixtures are; Sunday 13th August away to Inniskeen at 5:00pm; Sunday 27th August home to Magheracloone at 2:00pm; Saturday 9th September away to Donaghmoyne at 3:00pm; Sunday 17th September home to Clontibret at 5:00pm.

In the Universal Graphics Junior Football Championship, our Junior Men drew Tyholland, Killeevan, Oram and Rockcorry and are in Group 2. The fixtures are; Friday 11th August away to Oram at 7:30pm; Sunday 20th August home to Tyholland at 2:00pm; Saturday 26th August away to Rockcorry at 3:30; and Saturday 16th September home to Killeevan at 5:30pm. We wish the players and management on both teams all the best in this year’s Championships.

Our Blues Competitive Games in the past week

Under 13s

Hard luck to our Scotstown A team in their 3-17 to 3-5 defeat to Donaghmoyne at home in the Under 13 Division 1 Cup Competition Group A Round 2 game on Saturday last.

Our Scotstown A team next play Monaghan Harps away in the Under 13 Division 1 Cup Competition Group A Round 3 game on Saturday August 19th at 11:00am. Hard luck to our Under 13 Scotstown B team who narrowly lost 1-5 to 1-4 away to Magheracloone away in the Under 13 Division 5 Cup Competition Group B Round 2 game on Sunday last. The Under 13 Scotstown B team next play Clontibret away in the Under 13 Division 5 Cup Competition Group B Round 3 game on Sunday August 20th at 11:00am. Hard luck to our Under 13 Scotstown C team in their defeat to Inniskeen away in the Under 13 Division 5 Cup Competition Group B Round 1 game on Saturday last. The Scotstown C team next play Magheracloone at home in the Under 13 Division 5 Cup Competition Group B Round 3 game on Saturday August 19th at 12:00pm.

Under 15s

Our Under 15 boys’ teams had no games in the past week.

Under 17s

Well done to our Scotstown A team in their 2-12 to 3-6 win against Emyvale at home on Thursday last in the U17 Division 1 League Round 7 game. They next play Killanny at home in Round 2 of the Under 17 Division 1 League this Tuesday 8th August at 7:30pm.

Our Under 17 Scotstown B Team had no games in the past week. They next play Monaghan Harps in the Final of the Under 17 Division 4 League this Saturday 12th August at 12:00pm. We wish them all the best in the final.

Junior Division 3B Reserves

Our Division 3B Reserves had no games in the past week. They next play Monaghan Harps at home this Saturday 12th August in Round 10 of the Reserve League Football Division 3B at 7:00pm

Senior Men Championship

Our Senior Men had no games in the past week. Their next game is away to Inniskeen in Round 1 of the Greenfield Foods Senior Championship this Sunday August 13th at 5:00pm. We wish the team and management all the best.

Junior Men’s Championship

Our Junior men had no games in the past week. They next play Oram in Round 1 of the Eurotech Junior Championship this Friday 11th August at 7:30pm. The venue is Blackhill GAA. We wish the team and management all the best.

Senior Ladies

Our Senior Ladies faced Emmet Óg on Saturday last in Round 3 of the Senior Ladies Division 1 League game. The Ladies played superbly again and narrowly lost to a strong Emmet Og side 2-10 to 2-7. The Monaghan Ladies Championship commences in August. The Scotstown Ladies are playing in the Senior Championship and are in Group A along with O’Neill Shamrocks, Emyvale and Corduff. Their first game is against Corduff at home in Round 1 on Saturday 19th August at 7:00pm.

Under 18 Girls

Our Under 18 girls had no games in the past week. They next play Magheracloone at home in Round 5 of the Under 18 girls Division 1 League on Thursday 10th August at 7:30pm.

Under 16 Girls

Well done to our Under 16 Scotstown A girls in their win against Killanny at home in Round 9 of the Under 16 girls Division 1 League on Monday last. They next play Killanny at home in Round 9 of the Under 16 girls Division 1 League on Monday 7th August at 7:30pm. Hard luck to our Under 16 girls Scotstown B team who lost to Emyvale 3-8 to 3-5 at home in a thrilling Under 16 girls Division 2 League Semi Final game on Tuesday of last week.

Under 14 Girls

Our Under 14 Scotstown girls had no games in the past week. The Under 14 Scotstown A team next play Castleblayney at home this Wednesday 9th August in the Under 14 Division 1 League Round 3 game at 7:00pm.

Under 12 Girls

Hard luck to our Under 12 Scotstown A girls team in their defeat against Inniskeen away on Saturday last in Round 4 of the Under 12 Division 2 league. Our Under 12 Scotstown B team had no games in the past week.

Wellwishes for Abbie Carey

We wish Abbie McCarey a speedy recovery after an injury during the Senior Ladies league game against Emmet Óg last Saturday.

On Tuesday 8th August our Under 17 Scotstown A boys play Killanny at home in Round 2 of the U17 Division 1 league at 7:30pm.

On Wednesday 9th August our Under 14 Scotstown A girls play Castleblayney at home in Round 3 of the U14 Division 1 league at 7:00pm.

On Saturday 12th August our Division 3B Reserves play Monaghan Harps at home in Round 10 of the Reserve League Football Division 3B at 7:00pm. Our Under 17 Scotstown B Team next play Monaghan Harps in the Final of the Under 17 Division 4 League 12:00pm and our Under 12 Scotstown A girls team play Monaghan Harps at home at 11:00am in Round 3 of the Under 12 Division 2 league.

On Sunday 13th August our Senior men play Inniskeen away in the Senior Championship Round 1 game at 5:00pm.

On Monday 14th August our Under 17 Scotstown A boys play Castleblayney away in Round 3 of the U17 Division 1 league at 7:30pm.

On Thursday 17th August our Under 18 girls Scotstown A Team play O’Neill Shamrocks away in the Under 18 girls Division 1 League Round 6 game at 7:30pm.

Scotstown GAA Online Club Lotto – Jackpot €9,600!!

We changed our club lotto provider from last week, if you have an auto-renew ticket on the ClubForce system please cancel it and set up a new one using the link below on our new customised ClubSpot system. You can also play the lotto using our new Scotstown GAA Club app which you can download on your App Store. Please note that all tickets purchased via clubforce that still have draws remaining have been moved over to our new platform and will be included in the Lotto until they expire. Second draw on the ClubSpot system takes place this Wednesday 9th August. Any tickets bought using the new link will only be included on that draw or draws after that date

The Social Club is open this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9pm. Bara Rota: Gerard McKenna and Niall McKenna.

Health and Wellbeing

Scotstown GAA continues this year with its Healthy Club project which aims to help GAA clubs explore how they support the holistic health of their members and the communities they serve. We recently had nutritional talks for our U13 to U16 boys and girls’ players and parents. As we now enter the summer months and the football is up and running, we will be implementing Healthy initiatives soon and will update everyone as these happen.

Scotstown GAA Golf Classic

The 2023 Scotstown GAA Golf Classic is on in Rossmore Golf Club on Friday 1st September and Saturday 2nd September. Team of 4 with 3 course Dinner €200. Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others

Gaelic For Mothers & others continues every Wednesday evening at 8.30pm in Kilmore. All welcome to come along. Great way to meet new ladies and catch up with a bit of fun. As there is no competition for the group there is no pressure to attend every week. You can join in at any stage and come when it suits you. You need to be over 25 and living in the parish. Why not come all and give it a go!! Coming up in September party night in the Social Club!

Blessing of the Graves

Well done to Bernie Sherry & co for organising the tea and refreshments for after the blessing of the graves today, and to all the helpers for setting up, parking, serving, dishwashing and tidying up. A special mention to Hannah Sherry for her baking and her lovely scones & buns.

2023 Cúl Camp

The Scotstown GAA Cúl Camp is happening this week from Tuesday 8th August to Friday 11th August 2023. All the best to the participants and many thanks to all those who helped out in the running of the events in Kilmore.
