Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League 2011  – Semi Final:  Currin  V  Corduff.
A game due to be played in Scotshouse, but the Referee decided the ground was too wet, fortunately arrangements had been prepared in advance and the game was played in Clones.  The rain continued to fall but the pitch played well.  The game started well for Currin with our regular stars Jack McCarron and Stephen Smyth scoring in the first two minutes. Four minutes later Corduff were awarded a penalty but this was saved by Fergal Connolly.  This gave a real boost to the Currin team (and supporters). Both teams played with great spirit, fighting for every loose ball.  The majority of the first half was dominated by the home team, with a few moments of weakness, but by half time the score was 0-8 to 0-5 in Currin’s favour. The second half started with a surprise goal by the Corduf team who caught the Currin lads not quite awake. This made a great difference and four minutes later Shane O’Connor stormed through the defence to score a goal for Currin. From that point onwards Currin were determined to win and played with great determination.  Although the whole team deserved the win the man of the match must be Jack McCarron who scored a total of nine points kicking from all angles. Another who must be mentioned is Conor McCaffrey who was like a solid wall in the Currin defence. Well done lads, you should be ready to play Carrickmacross in the final. They beat Rockcurry 0-13 to 0-10. Get ready for the Senior league – the first time for Currin.    Team: Fergal Connolly, Tommy Maguire, Enda McCaffrey, Stephen Beattie, Cieran McCaffrey,Michael Quigley,Francis O’Callaghan, Dick Clerkin(Capt),Shane O’Connor, Phillip O’Callaghan,Ben Clerkin, Stephen Smyth, Jack McCarron, Cieran Kierans. Gareth Beattie came on for Shane O’Connor in the second half. Subs:Daragh Brady,Waylon McEniff,Niall McEntee,Tommy Maguire, Cian North, Gerald O’Callaghan, Paul Rudden, Declan Smyth. Scorers:  Jack McCarron – 0-9, Shane O’Connor 1 GOAL, Stephen Smyth 0-3 Dick Clerkin 0-1.

Currin GFC 125 – The 19th November is getting near, have you booked your place?  Currin have had the best season ever and are going to be in the Senior league next year ,this will be another reason to celebrate.  It should be a great night.  Make sure you are part of it.
