On Friday the 7th and Saturday the 8th of June the U11 Spring League Finals took place in the Entekra Centre of Excellence. A total of 20 games took place over Friday and Saturday. The main aim of the U11 Spring League is overall skill development, participation and fun for all teams with emphasis being put on the overhead/reach catch and the kick pass over 15m to chest.
There were some brilliant skills on show from all teams. Every game had a skill award which was based on the overall use of the two main skills. There were designated skill recorders for each game to record all skills. A total of 198 high/reach catches and 302 completed kick passes were recorded. It is very important at this age that these core skills are focused on in training and in games.
We would like to give a special mention to Brian Hughes from Killanny who picked up a serious injury in his game on Saturday. We would like to wish him a speedy recovery from his injury.
The Liam Stirrat Development League starts on Saturday the 22nd of June. There is a meeting tomorrow night (Thursday) at 7pm for U11 management teams to discuss the Liam Stirrat Development League.
Please see below a select number of photos from the Friday night. More follows are on our Facebook and Twitter page.
