Castleblayney Faughs claimed the Manor Farm Under 15 Division 2 title on Thursday evening in front of a large crowd in Tyholland.
Martin Joyce opened the scoring in the first minute as Castleblayney got off to a very busy start with a second added in the 3rd minute by Leo Moloney.Clones tried to get back into the game with Ryan Nolan hitting both uprights in the space of a minute. Clones eventually got their first score from Andrew McCaughey in the 12th minute from a free but couldn’t add to their tally as the more physical Blayney lads kept the pressure on. The sides traded scores until Clones put 3 points on the board without reply. Castleblayney then capitalised on a mistake to make Clones pay with a goal in the 23rd minute from Niall Rice who then added another goal and a point by the 27th minute to finish the half strongly.

Ryan Nolan got Clones off to an electric start in the second half with 2 goals in the first minute with Andrew McCaughey adding a point in the 2nd min to put the Clones lads a point in front. To their Credit Castleblayney didn’t panic and replied with 2 points from Martin Joyce and Niall Rice.The game then was put to bed really in a 5 minute spell from the 8th minute to the 13th minute when Clones conceded a penalty which was nicely converted by Paudie Heavin, and this was then followed up by a point and 2 goals scored by Niall Rice, Leo Moloney and Conor Rudd.
Castleblayney were flying at this stage and Conor Rudd added a goal and a point to make sure there would be no way back for Clones who were reduced to 12 men in the 23rd minute, but to their credit kept battling but to no avail in getting on the scoreboard. Castleblayney were dominate all over the field at this stage with a lot of tired legs starting to show on both sides.Nathan McArdle added a point before Kian Clerkin got a consolation goal for Clones in the 29th minute. This was a very good performance from the Faughs who showed great tenacity in defending to fantastic fielding in the middle of the park and also their ability to finish off the chances they created was a joy to watch.
