Reserve League 

Clontibret 1-6, Truagh 0-9. We managed a draw against Truagh with a good performance from a rather depleted team.

We are away to Magheracloone on Saturday at 5pm.

There will be a break in this league after this with the next match scheduled for 6th May at home to Latton.

 

Senior League

We play Blayney on Sunday week at home at 2pm.

This is followed by a home match to Scotstown on Wednesday, 22nd April at 7.30pm.

 

Minor League

Clontibret 2-9, Donaghmoyne 0-7. We lost comprehensively against a strong Donaghmoyne team last week.

We have Truagh at home on Tuesday at 6.45pm.

Next Tuesday we are away to Seans at 7pm.

 

Fun Run & Walk

Calling all professional runners, amateur runners, serious walkers, past time strollers and all those who just want an afternoons craic and enjoyment. This Saturday sees us hold our second instalment of the Clontibret 10k/5k Fun Run/Walk. We hope to make this just as big a success as last year and call on all our members young and old to give us as much support as possible. This could be in the form of helping out with stewarding, providing buns/refreshments or just taking part in the event itself. All monies raised will go directly to the Clontibret juveniles, O’Neill Shamrocks and the Parents’ Association of Scoil Mhuire. 

There’ll be face painting, entertainment and spot prizes on the day with a special prize going to the best fancy dressed runner!!

Whatever way you want to take part come along and get involved in the community spirit and help make it a great day for everyone.

 

U16

Our u16s get their football underway next Thursday with an away game against Blayney at 6.30pm.

The following Thursday we are at home to Eire Og at 6pm.

 

U14

Clontibret 4-9, Harps 3-4. We had a good win against the Harps second team to get our season off to a good start.

We’re away to Seans this evening at 6.30pm. On Saturday, 11th April we have a home game against Tyholland at 2pm.

 

U12

We’re at home to Clones on Saturday at 2pm.

On Saturday, 18th April we’re away to Drumhowan at 2pm.

 

Juvenile Training

U10: Training to continue Wednesday evenings at 6pm at the field. We’ve been getting great turnouts and hope to continue this in preparation of the up-coming Go-Games.

U8s: Training to continue Sunday mornings at 10am in the field. Again turnouts and effort have been great but remember keep practicing!!

 

Reunion Night

If you fancy a night of nostalgia, remembering the greats days of yesteryear or just want to meet up and be reminded of some of the great stalwarts who represented the club back in the nineties then plan to head to the club this Sunday evening where the official/unofficial!!! re-union of the 1994 and 1997 teams will be taking place. Highlights on the night will be the replay of the 1994 final v Donaghmoyne, that Ulster final v Bellaghy and that great win over our big rivals Castleblayney in ’97.

Also on show will be some snippets from the match programmes which no doubt will amuse many with the youthful faces and athletic bodies that some might say have now passed….or not!!!!

So we look forward to seeing you all in the club Sundaynight in helping us reminisce with these great soldiers of Clontibret.

 

Hurling

Senior Hurling: First game of the year is this Thursday at home to Dungannon throw-in at 7pm all players to be at the club house at 6:30.

Juvenile Hurling: Training continues on Thursday at 6:30.

County Hurling: Good luck to Raymond, Shane, Fergal and all of the Monaghan Senior Team in the national league final on Saturday against Tyrone. Throw-in is at 3pm in Keady.

 

Camogie

All roads lead to Clones on Sunday, both to support the Monaghan team in their National League match against Dublin, and to promote our ‘Predict the Score’ fund-raiser. For a mere €2, punters could earn themselves a cool €100 by simply predicting the correct outcome of the match. The ‘pair’ who sell the highest number of predictions will receive a Glaslough Chocolates Easter Hamper! So it’s a win-win initiative! The involvement of more of our senior players is greatly needed at this stage so don’t be shy girls!!!

The fixtures schedule kicks off in the coming weeks with our seniors playing Derrynoose at home on Sun April 12, but not before our U-12s participate I their first Blitz on Sat April 11, while our U-14s are in action against Culloville on April 10th  also at home. Our first U-16 match takes place (away) against Blayney on Tues April 14th. Disappointingly, this unfortunate group, despite last year’s results have yet again failed to be relegated – a case of ‘the old dog for the hard road’!!!! And that, despite the fact that there is an uneven number of teams in Division3!!!

National Camogie Congress took place in Croke Park this weekend during which the achievements of 2014 were recalled and celebrated and plans for the coming year, including a new strategic plan, were outlined. Many motions were debated and among those that will impact on our club was a motion banning jewellery of any kind while playing or training!  Additional powers are to be invested in referees when dealing players or officials interfering during the course of the game, while THDC’s (Transfer, Hearing and Disciplinary Sub-committees) have been invested with the power to debar individuals or clubs!  Congress concluded with the installation of Uachtarán Nua, Catherine Neary from the James Stephens Club, Kilkenny. This was followed by the Congress Banquet. 

On Thursday last a number of our club members attended a ‘presentation of gear’ in the AIB Monaghan, sponsored by the AIB, in acknowledgement of the club not only winning the county senior championship, but also an Ulster title. 

Our county minors trained in appalling weather conditions on Wednesday week last and must surely be commended on their dedication. This is a wonderful bunch of girls and deserve great credit for their efforts. Training continues on Wednesday and at the weekend, and players should make every effort to attend as places on the starting line-out are being keenly contested. 

Wonderful news from St James’s Hospital is that Mary is hopeful of getting home next week. Apparently she is doing physio to maintain muscle strength, which, given how fit she is already, must be a scary prospect for physios and no doubt she is giving them a ‘run for their money’!!!! You show them Mary!!!

Finally Easter greetings to everyone, especially our club members domiciled abroad like Angela, Helen, Aidan and … Aideen – well ok she is only in Kerry, but still!!! Happy Easter!
