The game against Cremartin last weekend was cancelled.

We play Scotstown this Sunday at home at 12pm.

 

Senior League

We have an away tie against Ballybay on Sunday, 22nd March at 4pm.

 

Minor League

We play the Harps at home on St. Patrick’s Day at 12 noon.

The game against Donaghmoyne due to be played this Saturdaywill now take place on Tuesday, 24th March under lights.

 

Fun Run & Walk

Keep turning out in your good numbers for the Fun Run & Walk training every Tuesday at 8pm and Sunday at 11am. Saturday, 4thApril is fast approaching.

Juvenile Training

U10s: Training at the usual time of 6pm this Friday in the Community Centre.

U8s: Training will take place on the pitch this Sunday morning at 10am. It is important that we get into the habit of each of us bringing our own water bottle to training with our name on it.

Also will parents ensure each child has a mouth guard in place please.

 

The Late Peter Sherry

Sympathy is expressed to the family and friends of former County Chairman, the late Peter Sherry. Peter carried out many roles at County Board level over the years and was always courteous and easy to work with. He died at what he lived for. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.​

 

Hurling

Senior training continues on Monday and Thursday nights at 8pm.
Juvenile training continues on Friday nights at 7pm.

 

Camogie

Commiserations to our county minor representatives who suffered a defeat to Tyrone on Sunday last in the Ulster Minor Shield final in Garvaghy. The team played their hearts out and led for most of the game. However with only 7 minutes to go an injury to Sinéad Mohan forced her retirement from the game and swung the momentum in Tyrone’s favour resulting in a four point win on a scoreline of 6-6 to 4-8. A huge ‘thank you’ to the parents, friends and families who supported the team on Sunday. Training continues in Cloghan on Wednesdays and Saturdays in anticipation of the resumption of the National Minor League shortly. 

Two innovative fund-raising events were launched at a meeting of the Executive and Fund-raising sub-committee in the club rooms on Friday last. The first –  ‘Predict the Score’ – will be held in conjunction with the Monaghan v Dublin National League match on Easter Sunday, April 5, in Clones. For a mere €2 patrons can predict the final result as they head to the match, by recording it with any of a large number of club members and parents who will be present on the streets of Clones in advance of the game. The winning prediction will receive a €100 prize!! 

The second initiative – Last One Standing – will be run over the course of the football championship and will involve patrons predicting, on a weekly basis, the winners of one championship game on that weekend. Incorrect predictions are eliminated while winning predictions advance to the next round. €10 secures a place in the competition which carries a prize of €300 – not a bad investment for your money!! A Facebook page is currently being compiled to keep everyone updated on the progress of the competition. In the meantime though, why not cast your eye over National League results from the past few weeks to give you a little head-start!

The death of former County Cathaoirleach of Monaghan GAA, Peter Sherry, on Sunday last, generated much shock and sadness. A gentleman through and through, Peter never forgot Clontibret Camogie Club in the run up to the All-Ireland Camogie finals every year, and 2 corporate box tickets would faithfully arrive in Castleshane for the adults accompanying the group of children travelling to Croke Park. This was typical of the true Gael that Peter was and his loss is a huge blow to his family and large circle of friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis. 

Finally ‘get well wishes’ to playing member Mary Duffy, who is currently hospitalised in St James Hospital. No doubt Mary is keeping the staff and patients entertained with her chat and craic (or ‘banter’ as she calls it!), just as she’s keeping her friends updated with hospital happenings! Hope to have you home soon, Mary!
