Truagh Notes

Final Action: We are taking part in 2 finals this weekend. On Saturday play Monaghan Harps in the U-16 division 1 football championship final at 2.30pm in Emyvale. Then on Sunday we play Inniskeen in the U-14 hurling shield final at 12pm in Blackhill. Good luck to all players and management. All support for both teams is appreciated and deserving.

Seniors: We defeated Scotstown away in the senior league last Sunday, 0-12 to 0-10. We raced into an early lead with 4 points in 7 minutes, all from Daniel McKenna. We added to this in the following 15 minutes and were 0-6 to 0-1 in front at the 20th minute. Scotstown narrowed this gap by half time with 3 successive points to leave the score at the break Scotstown 0-4 Gaeil Triucha 0-6. The home side quickly equalised on the resumption of the match levelling at 0-6 each in the 34th minute. We retook the lead again, scoring 4 of the next 5 points to go 0-10 to 0-7 ahead in the 49th minute. However by the 56th minute Scotstown had equailsed, scoring 3 points without reply. But we had the last word, scoring two injury time points from Pauric Treanor and John McCarron, to claim the league win Scostown 0-10 Gaeil Triucha 0-12. Our team and scorers were: Ian Treanor; Shane Treanor, Niall Feely, Darren Todd; Niall Coyle, Niall McQuillan, Aidan Coyle; Pauric Treanor (0-2), Niall McMeel (0-1); Niall Rooney, John Trenaor, Daniel McKenna (0-7, 3f); Mark Counihan, Chrissy McKenna, Chrissy McAnanley (0-1). Subs Used: John Treanor for Aidan Coyle (15mins-temporary blood sub), John McCarron for Chrissy McKenna (39mins), Eoghan Kelly for Niall Rooney (51mins-blackcard), Daniel Finnegan for Mark Counihan (57mins) & Aidan Kerr for Ian Treanor (58mins–blackcard). Our next match is at home to Magheracloone this Saturday, 4th October, at 5pm. We then play away to Currin in our rearranged league fixture next Wednesday, 8th October, at 8pm.

Reserves C: Our RFL Div. 3 Final against Blackhill is scheduled for Friday 10th October at 8pm in Emyvale.

Recreational Tournament: Thanks to all who took part in our annual recreational tournament last Saturday. Money raised will go towards Truagh Special Needs. In the Peadar Treanor Cup Final, Dublin team Round Towers defeated Truagh, while in the Brendan Landers Shield Final Monaghan Harps beat Scotstown. Thanks to the caterers, Bridget and Maretta, for providing the post match meals.

U-16: Our championship final against Monaghan Harps is to be played next Saturday 4th October at 2.30pm in Emyvale.

Congratulations: to clubman, Martin Woods, and our ex senior team mangers, Laurence Strain and Barry McGinn who were successful last weekend in championship finals. Martin was part of the Drumhowan team management who captured the Monaghan Junior championship, while Laurence and Barry were the managers of the Omagh team who captured the Tyrone senior championship.

Ulster GAA Writer’s club of the year nomination: Our club have been shortlisted as one of the Ulster GAA Writer’s Club of the Year nominations. The Ulster writer’s awards night is being held on 1st November where the winner will be announced.

U-6, 8 & 10s: Our season is now over for the year. Thanks to all the coaches and players for their participation throughout the season. Also thanks to all those who helped out in any way through the year. See you all next year, and keep practicing!!.

Hurling: U-14: We recorded an away win over Monaghan Harps in the shield semi-final last Sunday, 5-4 to 3-8. We now advance to the final, which is played next Sunday at 12pm in Blackhill against Inniskeen. Good luck to players and management.

Ladies:

U10/12: The management Peadar Seanna Caoimhe & John would like to thank all the girls in their effort thought out the football year of 2014. The management & club are very proud of the underage teams and encourage everyone to practice their skills & come out again at the start of 2015. Well done to all the girls.

U-14/U-16: Our U-16 girls team completed their League campaign last week when they suffered an away defeat to Eire Og in a play off game for a place in the league semi finals. Team and scorers were Laura Mc Kenna, Colleen Treanor, Eilis Keenan, Ciara Treanor, Niamh Fullen, Megan Mc Quaid, Meighan Mc Kenna, Morgan Mc Kenna (2-5), Ellen Deery( (0-1), Katie Murphy, Lauren Treanor, Linda Mc Meel (0-1), Sinead Rafferty (0-2), Leona Mc Kenna, Emma Mc Aree, Clodagh Mc Meel, Aoife Mc Quillan, Megan Markey, Aoibhinn Treanor.

Now that the playing season has ended the management and players of the club’s U-14/U-16 girls team would like to thank Ladies club PRO, Aoibhinn and the men’s club PRO, Adrian for all their help, time and effort in ensuring that match reports and information relevant to both of these teams were published in the local newspapers during 2014.Thank you

Juvenile Registration. We will have juvenile registration for one more Friday evening from 7:30pm so then hopefully we can begin coaching and start up the leagues, old and new welcome, both boys & girls, same rates as last year 5 euro per child, goggles are essential, no entry into the alley without goggles, we are looking at buying in goggles shortly as to have a stock for new players, we shall publish how much and were to get the goggles when we receive them.

Mono League. Any person who wants to play in the Mono League that didn’t get a nomination form can forward their name to any member of the committee of their intention to

play in the league, but please do ASAP as we will soon be organising the setting up of the league.

40th Celebrations Night. Remember keep in mind our celebration night in St.Mellans on the 8th of November so keep the date free as we would like to see as many of the old and new down to join in with the craic and reminiscing, food will be served on the night.

AGM. We held our agm Tuesday past the 30th, report next week (too late for notes).
