Seniors: The Seniors defeated holders Ballybay in the Senior Championship semi-final on Saturday last to book their place in this year’s County Final. The game was nip and tuck in the opening half, with a Conor McCarthy goal being answered almost immediately by a goal at the other end from Paul Finlay to leave the sides level at 1-5 apiece at the break. The Blues gave a great second-half performance though, and a further two goals from Shane Carey set them up for a 3-13 to 2-9 victory. Scotstown team and scorers: Rory Beggan (0-3); Damien McArdle, Donal Morgan (0-1), Mark Duffy; Padraig Keenan, William Carroll, Emmet Caulfield; Francis Caulfield, James Turley; Kieran Hughes (0-1), Shane Carey (2-4), Darren Hughes; Peter O’Hara, Nicholas Corrigan (0-1), Conor McCarthy (1-1). Substitutes used: Brian McGinnity, David McCague, Orin Heaphey (0-1), Paul Grant (0-1), Eddie Beggan. Clontibret and Monaghan Harps drew in the other semi-final, so they will face a replay on Friday night to decide who will play Scotstown in the County Final on October 13^th. The Seniors are at home to Castleblayney Faughs this Saturday afternoon in the League at 1pm.

Juniors: The Scotstown C team finished their Junior League campaign with a defeat away to leaders Killanny on Sunday, 1-18 to 1-13. They finish in joint eighth position in the table, level on points with Aghabog. Thanks to the players and management for their commitment throughout the year.

Finals Sunday: Saint Mary’s Park, Scotstown will host a double header of Finals this Sunday, October 6^th. At 2pm Doohamlet play St. Tiernach’s Minor Football Championship Division Three Final, followed by the Junior Football Championship Final at 4pm between Emyvale and Blackhill. Club members are requested to help out on the day, with stewards to be in place from 12:30pm. Best wishes to our own Donal Connolly, who will take charge of the Junior Final.

Conversational Irish: The conversational Irish group continues every Tuesday night from 8-9pm. Caint is comhrá as Gaeilge – tá fáilte le gach duine!

The Big Breakfast: The club will be hosting a “Big Breakfast” event on the morning of the County Final, Sunday October 13^th running from 9am until 1pm – everyone welcome to attend.

Annual General Meeting: The 2013 Annual General Meeting of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, An Bhoth will take place on Friday, November 22^nd in the Complex.

Presentation: A presentation of the proceeds of this year’s Ned Run to the nominated charities took place in the Complex on Saturday night. A total of €7,000 was divided between the Monaghan Hospice Home Care (€3500), The Irish Heart Foundation (€1500), Drumkill Alzheimer’s Day Care (€1000) and the Club for the Elderly (€1000). The organising committee would like to thank everyone who made the event such a success again this year, including: Airtricity, Seamus Treanor, Johnston Mooney & O’Brien, Connolly Meats, Gerry’s Veg, First Choice Foods, Rocks Stationary, Red Cross, Civil Defence, Martin Brady Transport, Paul Dolan, Adrian Hackett, Northern Sound, Sean McCaffrey, Glaslough Harriers, Northern Standard, An Garda Siochana, Frankie McCarey and everyone who contributed donations or helped out in any way. Ciste: The September Ciste draw takes place this Saturday night in the Complex. Development Draw: The Scotstown GAA Development Draw will take place on Sunday, October 27^th in the Complex. First prize is a Seat Ibiza car; second prize is a cruise; there are three cash prizes of €1000, €500 and €500 for third to fifth and sixth prize is a pair of tickets for next year’s All-Ireland Football Final. Tickets available on the Scotstown website and from club members priced at €20 each or three for €50.

Hard Luck: to Edel Corrigan and the Monaghan Senior Ladies team who were defeated by Cork in the All-Ireland Final last Sunday. It was a great achievement to reach the All-Ireland Final – well done to all involved.
