Seniors:

The Intermediate Football Championship returned last weekend as Donaghmoyne took on Tyholland on Saturday evening, seeking revenge for last years semi final defeat to the same opponents. Donaghmoyne who had the strong breeze behind their backs in the opening half went in a point down with the score 1-2 to 4 points. The lads came out determined in the second half and they put in a hell of a shift. A goal from Colm Connolly and a few other well earned scores was the key needed for them to get the win, as they march on to the next round. This Saturday we take on Cremartin in the next round in Aughnamullen at 4 o clock. Nothing beats being there to support your club, and your team needs all the support possible, so get to Aughnamullen on Saturday evening to support the team!

Minors:

Minors had their first Championship outing of the year on Tuesday evening last as they took on Latton away from home. The lads started the game well and led from the off, a lead which they held onto for the hour, and thankfully came out with the win to book their place in the semi final. The semi final takes place this weekend as the lads take on Creamrtin on Sunday at 1 o clock in Oram. Come out on Sunday to support the lads as they bid to reach their first final of the year.

U16s:

The U16s league final against St. Pats is now fixed for Saturday the 21st of September, so keepthis date free in your diaries.

U14s:

The U14 panel had their league semi final on Saturday morning last as they took on Aughnamullen at home. From start to finish this was a brilliant game of football that both sets of players put on display. The edge changed hands on several occasions  and unfortunately at the final whistle the lads were on the wrong side of a two point defeat. The lads have put in a lot of work all year and should hold their heads high, take this as a learning experience and come back stronger next year.

Mini Fontenoys:

The minis training continues Saturday at 11 in Donaghmoyne. All new children from the ages of u6s up to u10s are welcome. Every child must have a gumbshield otherwise they cannot participate. Cost is €2 per family. Also any parents willing to get involved in coaching are more than welcome.

Important Notice:

All teams training in the field MUST train in the bottom field when it is available from now on. When using the main field, avoid using the goal area to stop digging up the area.

Lotto Sellers Wanted:

Any children in the parish who would be interested in taking up a lotto selling route would be more than welcome as we would like to cover more, and as much of the parish as possible. Each child selling lottos will also receive a commission. Anyone interested can contact Brian on 0872915864.

Ladies

Seniors:

On Saturday evening last the Seniors took to the field for the Championship final against Emyvale in Gavin Duffy Park, Monaghan. As always anytime the girls come up against Emyvale they know they’re in for a hell of a match, and this time was no different. The game was very tight throughout, with Donaghmoyne keeping an edge ahead of their opponents for the majority of the game. Well into the second half Donaghmoyne were a couple of points clear, before an Emyvale penalty left just 2 points separating the teams. But Donaghmoyne showed a brilliant reaction and pushed on with a couple more points which sealed their 11th straight County Championship in a row. It goes without saying how extraordinary this achievement is and all the players and management involved deserve a huge amount of credit. Huge well done for now girls, but keep up the hard work and push on now once again in Ulster.

U12s:

The U12 girls took on Emyvale in the league final as a curtain raiser to the Senior Championship Final on Saturday last. This game was a very tight encounter, throughout with very little separating the two teams. Unfortunately on the day Emyvale got the crucial scores at the right times and the took the win by the narrowest of margins.  Hard luck to both the players and management, on another day you could have been victors, but you must build from this and come back again stronger. Well done to all concerned.

Good Luck Kevin!:

The club would like to wish Kevin Burns all the best and a safe trip on his upcoming travels. Enjoy yourself Kevin, you will be badly missed from the sidelines but after all your hard work you deserve it!
