Seán McDermotts notes

September 8th, 2013

Adult team. Last Sunday in Drumhowan our adult team bowed out of the Universal Graphics Junior Football Championship at the semi-final stage beaten by an in form Blackhill side on a scoreline of Blackhill 1 -11 Seans   0 -12. What will disappoint the panel and the management team is that having prepared so well they failed on this occasion to produce the form and incisive brand of football which they are capable off. Although little went right for them, they could not be faulted for effort and battled bravely to cut Blackhill’s second half lead to a single point as the game entered injury time; but the gods conspired against them, a free to midfielder Mark Keogh surely? Exasperation!!! Not given… the possibility of an equaliser gone and with it the door to promotion via the championship route closed.

With four rounds of the league remaining these boys are knocking  on the door for admission to a top four finish, they have some tricky assignments though in that run in if that door is to be prised  open and the goal achieved. First up is Emyvale on Sunday next at 1.30pm at TMH, followed by Eire Óg (A) Aghabog (A) and Killeevan (H) over the next three weekends.

Under 16. Our Under 16’s travel to Donaghmoyne on Thursday last for the U16 Division 1 football league semi-final, the home side showed exactly why they had topped the league table with a comprehensive victory… Donaghmoyne 4-15 Seans 2 -3.
