Seniors:

The Intermediate Football Championship returns this weekend, Donaghmoyne take on Tyholland on Saturday evening, seeking revenge for last years semi final defeat to the same opponents. Throw in is at 4.15 in Ballybay. These lads have worked hard and deserve all the support possible, so get their on Saturday evening to get behind your club.

Minors:

Minors had their first Championship outing of the year on Tuesday evening last as they took on Latton away from home. See results and next weeks notes for the match result.

U16s:

U16s had their league semi final last Thursday evening as they took on Seans at home. The lads were very determined coming into this game, with revenge on their minds from their championship defeat to Seans earlier in the year. This rubbed off them on the field as they took control early on and put in a great performance for the hour, which meant they ran out comprehensive winners. The lads have now qualified for the Division One decider on Saturday the 14^th of September when they take on St. Pats. Well done so far lads, train hard for the next two weeks and be ready for the big day.

U14s:

The U14 panel have their league semi final on Saturday morning as they take on Aughnamullen at home. Throw in is at 12 o clock in Donaghmoyne. These lads have worked hard all year and need as much support possible on the semi final day so get their on Saturday morning to cheer on the lads.

U12s:

Last weekend saw both our U12 teams taking the field in the division 2A and 2B league finals. The day proved to be one of mixed emotions for both sides. The first game saw the 2B side take on a strong Monaghan Harps side. Donaghmoyne who were playing into a strong wind in the first half, went in four points up at half time after a very tough half. The lads were determined at the start of the second half to make sure and get the win they deserved and these lads weren’t to be stopped. When the final whistle blew Donaghmoyne were on the right side of a two point win and they were crowned champions. This was a great example for our 2A team who were to face Eire Og. This time round our lads played with the strong breeze in the opening half and they went in four points up at the break. When the second half started, Donaghmoyne raced into a strong lead after a period of some excellent football. But as the half went on the legs started to tire, and Eire Og pounced, hitting many unanswered scores. This was a blow our lads failed to recover from and at full time the lads were left in despair. I think it goes without saying that both these group of players deserve massive credit for how well they’ve done this year, getting to two finals is no easy task and something they really deserved. On another day the lads may have took home both cups but it just wasn’t meant to be this time round. But the lads must use this as a stepping stone for the future and indeed they will. Finally a huge well done to both the players and management on a very good year and hopefully they will all come back stronger next year.

 

Mini Fontenoys:

The minis training continues Saturday at 11 in Donaghmoyne. All new children from the ages of u6s up to u10s are welcome. Every child must have a gumbshield otherwise they cannot participate. Cost is €2 per family. Also any parents willing to get involved in coaching are more than welcome.

Important Notice:

All teams training in the field MUST train in the bottom field when it is available from now on. When using the main field, avoid using the goal area to stop digging up the area.

 

 

Ladies

 

U14s:

The U14 girls panel took on O Neills in the Championship final on Monday evening last. The girls performed very well from the word go and had total dominance on this game, which thankfully led to the girls being crowned champions. This is a great achievement, something all players and management can be very proud of, and well done to all concerned, hard work pays off.

U12s:

The U12 girls take on Emyvale in the league final as as curtain raiser to the Senior Championship Final on Saturday the 7^th of September. Throw in is at 4.45 in Gavin Duffy Park, Monaghan. Come along and support the future stars of our club.

Congratulations to the Monaghan Senior ladies on reaching the All Ireland final last weekend but especially to all the Donaghmoyne contingent involved in the side. Just one step more!
