Senior football

League football resumed last week and we had mixed luck in our two games with one win and one defeat. On Wednesday last we travelled to Drumhowan and came away with the two points after a tight game. Final score, Currin 1-14, Drumowan 2- 8. Team and scorers, Fergal Connolly, Dara Brady, Conor Mc Caffrey, Sean Brady, Enda McCaffrey, Ben Clerkin, Gerard O Callaghan, Dick Clerkin, Ciaran Mc Caffrey(0-1), Stephen Beatty(0-2), Jack Mc Carron, (1-5), Kieran Kearns, Francis O Callaghan, Philip O Callaghan, (0-4), Niall McEntee(0-2). Subs used, Paddy Mc Dermott for Gerard O Callaghan, Shane O Connor for Dick Clerkin, Tommy Maguire for Niall Mc Entee. On Sunday morning last we played Donaghmoyne. With the team short a few regulars, the home side got off to a flying start and were 1-5 to one point ahead before we got settled. However growing in confidence we scored a goal and three without reply to leave only the minimum between the teams. The second half was marred by injury to a young Donaghmoyne player which necessitated a long delay. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope that he can resume playing in the near future. This stoppage and Currin being reduced to fourteen after a second yellow meant that we lost by four points in the end. Scoreline 2-5 to 1-12.  The highlights of this game were the return of Michael Quigley after a long injury and Jack’s two goals. Team and scorers:- Fergal Connolly, Sean Brady, Conor Mc Caffrey, Dara Brady, Ben Clerkin, Enda McCaffrey, Cian North, Ciaran Mc Caffrey, Ciaran Kearns, Niall Mc Entee, Jack Mc Carron, (2-2) Tommy Maguire, Paddy Mc Dermott, Philip O Callaghan (0-3), Shane O Connor. Subs used, Michael Quigley, Paul Mc Avinney.

Committee Meeting

At the monthly meeting issues discussed included the development of our facilities which are progressing nicely thanks to the excellent work of the committee. It was decided to postpone the ‘Come dine with me’ in favour of a Celebration function later in the year. The financial position of the club was again discussed at length. The annual horse racing will take place in October.
