Anyone who has sold a direct-debit is asked to pass the details on to the Lotto committee as soon as possible, so they can be entered into our weekly draw straight away. We all wish Mary McRory and Philomena Hughes speedy recoveries to full health.

 

Juvenile presentation: The juvenile presentation night for hurlers and footballers has been set for Saturday, February 9 in the clubhouse, with special guests the Liam Mac Carthy Cup and the National Hurling League trophy.

 

Charity match: The presentation of the cheques from our recent charity match will take place on Sunday week, February 3, in the clubhouse. More details of the causes to benefit will be announced before then.

                                                                                     

Management: The management teams for our two reserve teams have been decided. Gerard Treanor, Conor McGirr and Dick Reidy will be in charge of the O’Duffy Cup team, with Jimmy Croarkin and Pat Murphy re-appointed to the Crawley Cup team.

 

Championship draw: We have been drawn against Doohamlet in the first round of this year’s Senior Football Championship.

 

Membership: Membership fees for 2013 are being maintained as follows: €20 per adult, €10 per child or €50 for a family of two adults and any number of children. Money can be paid to registrar Maurice Galligan, treasurer John Harden or dropped into the clubhouse.

 

Coaching courses: Upcoming Monaghan GAA coaching courses include foundation courses on February 15/16 (football only) and March 8/9 (football & hurling), level 1 children’s course on February 8/9/10 and level 1 youth/adult course on February 22/23/24. Discounts are available to clubs who send at least four members to these courses. There is also a workshop on speed endurance with/without the ball in Cloghan next Wednesday (January 23). If you are interested in attending any of these courses, please contact Val Forde at 087 9515175.

 

Fundraising: A number of ideas for fundraising initiatives are currently being discussed, including a ‘duck race’ on Easter Monday. More details will be announced in next week’s notes and on our website.

 

The Gathering 2013: Anyone who would be interested in organising a reunion for any former Harps team and club members as part of ‘The Gathering’ is asked to contact any committee member.

 

McKenna Cup: Good luck to Monaghan in the Dr. McKenna Cup Final against Tyrone in Armagh on Saturday evening. Neil McAdam, Conor Galligan and Donal Hahessy all featured in last Wednesday’s win over Fermanagh, while Neil also played the full 70 minutes in the semi-final against Down.

 

Sigerson Cup: Good luck to the Harps men involved in the opening round of the Sigerson Cup next week. Gary White and Niall Hahessy helped IT Sligo to beat NUI Galway in their final FBD League game last Sunday.

 

Scór: Preparations are underway for Scór Sinsir 2013, with the semi-finals set for February 15 and 16. Contact Gerard Clerkin if you are interested in taking part.

 

Arch Club: We are happy to welcome Monaghan arch Club to Gavan Duffy Park again this year. The Arch Club will visit us on Thursday, February 7. Please keep this date free.

 

Sem Gala Ball: To celebrate 100 years of Gaelic football at St. Macartan’s College, all past pupils are invited to a special centenary gala ball in the Hillgrove Hotel on Saturday, February 16, raising money for the redevelopment of the ‘bottom pitch’ at the Sem.
