Monaghan Harps Lotto: Numbers 4, 9, 25 and 28. Jackpot of €2,350 not won. Juvenile presentation: The juvenile presentation night for hurlers and footballers has been set for Saturday, February 9 in the clubhouse, with special guests the Liam Mac Carthy Cup and the National Hurling League trophy.

 

Charity match: Anyone who still has sponsorship forms/money from our recent charity match is asked to give them to Owen Connell or leave them into the clubhouse as soon as possible. Details of the charities to benefit from this match will be announced in the coming weeks.

 

Membership: There will be an open day for all club members to pay their registration fees this Sunday in the clubhouse from 11am to 1pm. Membership fees for 2013 are being maintained as follows: €20 per adult, €10 per child or €50 for a family of two adults and any number of children.

 

Coaching courses: Upcoming Monaghan GAA coaching courses include foundation courses on February 15/16 (football only) and March 8/9 (football & hurling), level 1 children’s course on February 8/9/10 and level 1 youth/adult course on February 22/23/24. Discounts are available to clubs who send at least four members to these courses. There is also a workshop on speed endurance with/without the ball in Cloghan next Wednesday (January 23). The Gathering 2013: Anyone who would be interested in organising a reunion for any former Harps team and club members as part of ‘The Gathering’ is asked to contact any committee member.

 

McKenna Cup etc.: Well done to debutant Donal Hahessy, Conor Galligan, David Hughes and Neil McAdam, who helped Monaghan to a high-scoring win in Donegal last Sunday. Meanwhile, Gary White and Niall Hahessy were once again in action with IT Sligo, who lost out to Galway.

 

Scór: Preparations are underway for Scór Sinsir 2013, with the semi-finals set for February 15 and 16. Contact Gerard Clerkin if you are interested in taking part.

 

Votes of sympathy: At our last two club meetings, votes of sympathy were passed to the families of Jim Croarkin, Muireann O’Sullivan, Orla McGowan, Frank Kernaghan, Francie Treanor, Philomena Kelly and Aloysius Hackett. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.

 

Mouth-guards: It is now compulsory for all players from minor down to wear a mouth guard at both training and matches. All players and juvenile mentors are asked to take note. More details about this can be found on our website: www.monaghanharps.gaa.ie.

 

Monaghan GAA awards: The annual Monaghan GAA/The Northern Standard awards night takes place at the Hillgrove Hotel on Saturday (January 19), with special guest Michael Duignan. Tickets cost €30 and are available by contacting Anita Finnegan at 086 6676440.

 

Sem Gala Ball: To celebrate 100 years of Gaelic football at St. Macartan’s College, all past pupils are invited to a special centenary gala ball in the Hillgrove Hotel on Saturday, February 16, raising money for the redevelopment of the ‘bottom pitch’ at the Sem.
