CLUB NOTES

Golf Classic
It’s almost time for our inaugural fund raising golf classic event which will be held at the Clones Golf Club on Saturday 22nd September. I am delighted to announce that our main sponsors for this event will be Town of Monaghan Co-op and McNally Crane Hire and we sincerely thank them for their generous sponsorship. I hope at this stage you all have perfected your golf swing and fine- tuned your putting techniques to ensure getting the ball into the hole! There is still plenty of time to enter a team which consists of four people and is a reasonable €120.00. There are time slots available from 8.00am to 3.30pm so please contact Jimmy McGeough or Martina McKeown to book a time slot that is most suitable for you. There are also exciting opportunities for businesses, families and individuals to advertise by sponsoring a tee or a green for a reasonable €50 so please get in touch and we would be delighted to talk to you.
Monaghan Electrical Intermediate League
The senior team will be well rested because their next game in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate league is not until Saturday 29th September when they take on Donaghmoyne. The game will take place at Pairc Naomh Mhurie and throw-in time is 5.00pm. On Saturday 13th October we have another home game against Doohamlet and throw-in time is 4.30pm
Bosco Carroll Memorial Cup
Following on from last year’s memorable and very enjoyable under 10 matches I am delighted to report that our youth officer Pascal Smyth has once again gathered some quality teams to compete for the Bosco Carroll Memorial Cup. Latton who are the current title holders will be joined by Aghabog, Killeevan and our own bunch of wee warriors as they battle it out for the silverware. The four team tournament takes place this Saturday 15th September at Pairc Naomh Mhuire and throw-in time is 2.00pm. Please come along and support all the young players on the big stage!!! All welcome.
Autumn Raffle

That’s right, for only €5 you can enter our Autumn Raffle and win any of the following prizes. 1st prize is a suite of bedroom furniture, kindly donated by the Maple Bar, Rockcorry (bed, 2 x lockers & 5 drawer chest) 2nd prize €200, 3rd prize is a meal for two at the Errigal Country House Hotel in Cootehill, 4th prize €50, 5th prize €20 meal voucher for Murphy’s Bistro, Cootehill. All committee members and players have raffle sheets and the draw will take place at a date to be confirmed.

Under 16 Championship
Our under 16 team, Rock-Emmets were in action last Thursday evening when they travelled to play Corduff in the semi-final of the championship. This was a fine game of football with both teams producing skill and showing spirit to a very high level. Unfortunately, despite a brave and valiant effort from the lads we just fell short against an impressive Corduff team, who in truth were perhaps the stronger side, and the concession of four goals proved extremely costly as they ran out eventual winners on a score-line Corduff 4-12 Rock-Emmets 2-11. This concludes our interest in the under 16 football competitions this year and I would like to say well done to all the players for their huge effort and character they showed during the year. In addition, many thanks to the team mentors for taking the time to manage and coach this group of players.
Under 14 Team
The under 14 footballers are back in action this Saturday 15th September when they travel to play Clontibret B at 12 noon.
