Senior Football League.

We played Ballybay away on Saturday evening last and came away with a share of the points. Indeed the result could have gone either way. This could have been a victory had we taken our chances and yet we had to rely on a late penalty to avoid defeat, so a draw was a fair result. Currin played really well in the first half and the three point lead at half time did not flatter us. In the second half Ballybay upped their game and capitalising on a few mistakes they gradually built up a four point lead but the late penalty, won and converted by Jack Mc Carron, gave us a deserved draw. Last night we were due to play the ‘mighty’ Castleblayney Faughs in Scotshouse. Hopefully the weather allowed that game to go ahead. The result can be found on the GAA website or on Twitter. Tomorrow, Friday 27th we play Monaghan Harps also at home in Scotshouse  at 7.45pm. The August holiday break then intervenes and our next fixture is scheduled when we are due to travel to Carrickmacross on Sunday 12th August. Keep in touch with the Monaghan GAA website for definite fixtures. Also the Fixtures will be posted in the village.

Juvenile and Youth.

Training: U-14 Training takes place every Thursday from 4.15p.m. to 5.30p.m. and on Saturday mornings. Results, league positions and fixtures are all on the official Monaghan website.

Mr Peter Rehill.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Mr Peter Rehill, Aughareagh, on Sunday last. Peter comes from a family who have a long association with Currin GFC. Peter had an encyclopaedic knowledge of Gaelic games and was a former Currin player who also had the unique distinction of playing for Ture Davitts. We extend our sympathy to his surviving family members. Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a anam uasal.

Cork in 1905. Just to show that it was not just lucky he repeated this in Los Angeles in 1932.
