Scotstown Notes

Seniors:

The seniors were in League action against Clontibret on Friday evening at Scotstown, but were on the wrong end of a 2-6 to 1-12 defeat. Scotstown are second from bottom in the table, three points behind Truagh who are eighth. The Scotstown team was: R Beggan; McArdle, Morgan, E Beggan; McPhillips, D Hughes (1-1), Duffy; F Caulfield (0-1), S Sherry; Mark Treanor, P O’Hara, Turley; McGinnity, Grant (0-4), Heaphey (1-0). Substitutes used: E Caulfield & Hamill. They are back in Senior League action on Saturday, July 21st away to Monaghan Harps.

B Team:

Castleblayney defeated Scotstown B last Wednesday evening in RFL Division One at Oram by 2-18 to 1-13. The Scotstown team was: C Mohan; N Sherry, Carroll, Carbin; McMeel, D Caulfield, E Caulfield; Hamill (1-1), S Sherry; Rice (0-1), Mark Treanor (0-4), Sherlock (0-1); D McCrudden (0-3), McNally (0-2), Heaphey (0-1). Substitutes used: McPhillips, Moyna, C Caulfield, Myles Treanor, N McCrudden. The side were in action on Wednesday evening with a win against Clontibret by 2-12 to 2-3, and they are away to Tyholland on Saturday evening with a 7pm start.

C Team:

The Reserve League Division Three team had a good win away at Inniskeen on Sunday afternoon by 2-10 to 1-11. There is one fixture of the regular League campaign left, away against Oram on Sunday, July 22nd. The team lie second in the table behind Emyvale, and are already guaranteed a place in the knockout stages.

Under 21s:

Scotstown play Aughnamullen in the League Quarter-Final on Thursday evening in Scotstown at 8pm. If victorious, they will probably be in action again next Tuesday, July 17th with home advantage against Emerald Sarsfields.

Minors:

The minors defeated Clontibret by 2-13 to 2-9 last Tuesday evening at Páirc Mhuire. This fixture concludes the regular league schedule, with Scotstown finishing top of League Division One. The knockout stages of the competition are not likely to be played until after the County Minor team have completed their championship campaign.

Under 16s:

The Division One team beat Monaghan Harps by 3-8 to 1-8 last Thursday evening. They currently lead the division by two points ahead of Donaghmoyne. The B team conceded the points against Rock Emmets last Thursday evening. The B team are due to face Corduff at home with a 6.45pm start this evening (Thursday), while the A team are not scheduled to be in action again until July 23rd.

Under 14s:

The B team were defeated by Aghabog (away) on Tuesday evening, and their next Division Five outing will be at home to the Harps this Saturday, July 14th at 12 noon. The A team are in action again on Saturday, July 14th at home to the Harps at 1.15pm.

Under 12s:

Monaghan Harps defeated Scotstown on Tuesday evening for a Division One fixture. The A team will play Magheracloone away on Saturday, July 21st. The B team had a great win against Donaghmoyne B on Saturday, which puts them level on points with Donaghmoyne and Emerald Sarsfields at the top of Division Six. The final round of fixtures in the division will be on Saturday, July 21st with Scotstown playing Inniskeen B away.

The Ned Run:

The second annual 5 mile charity run will take place on Saturday, August 4th. Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome to attend. The launch night of this year’s race takes place this Saturday night, July 14th at 10pm in the Social Club in the Complex. Everyone welcome to attend.

Cúl Camps:

The Cúl Camp at Scotstown’s Kilmore East Training Grounds takes place from July 23rd – 27th and features football, hurling and camogie for girls and boys aged 5-13 years. The cost is €55 for the first child in a family, €45 for the second, €40 for other children in the family.
