On resumption, Charlie McDonnell, (2.2), playing a target role, flicked the ball to the Emerald’s net, and a minute later, Bartec (1-0) added a similar score. Two white flags were raised by Frank in quick succession, which were followed by a red flag from Keane O’Reilly (1-0). James also found the back of Emerald’s net from close range. Frank split the posts before Kevin (0-1) and James (0.2) kept the score board ticking over. Emeralds brought the second period to an end with a goal. Half time score was 4-12 to 1-1.The Emeralds improved considerably in the third period and scored a fine goal within 5 minutes and added a well taken point. The visitors took control with minors from Charlie and James, in quick succession. Charlie careered through for his second goal and supersub Killian Ruddy (0.2), brought the second period to a halt with a quickly taken point. The visitors were now ahead by 5-15 to 2-2.  To their credit, the Emeralds did not drop the heads, and, in fact, they outscored the visitors by 3 points in the last quarter. Toome’s points came via Frank and James, with Charlie following up with a similar score. Frank helped himself to another brace of points, before the supersubs, Killian and Andrew Connolly (0-1) both struck the ball over the bar. The hosts added 3-2 to their total. Super full back, John Gorman, as usual, sneaked in to take his point, just before the final whistle. The full panel was used, and every one of them was excellent. Apart from those already mentioned hats off to Gabby in goal, Mark Byrne, Kevin Tibby, Stephen Blessing, Joseph Harte and Igor. Toome played Latton in the D4 league final in Aughnamullen on Tuesday last 14th June at 7pm.
