School Around The Corner 2012: There was a  fantastic night’s entertainment in the Social Centre last Saturday when PD Promotions hosted School around the Corner. Tickets were like gold-dust on Friday and Saturday and the Centre was absolutely packed so we hope everyone got in.18 brave and talented souls volunteered to be the ‘children’ on the night interviewed in the School around the Corner format by UTV’s Frank Mitchell. These were; Tom Lenagh, Chris Forde, Lee Conlon, Colm Rayburn, Alan Sheridan, Seamus Quinn, Damien Hanaway, Pete Keenan, Bernie McBreen, Dympna Brady, Paddy Murtagh, Tommy Flanagan, Mickey Connolly, James Bannigan and Gavin Duffy, Damien Duffy
Noel Callan. Some were not that readily recognisable to the large audience having dressed up in clothes they might not usually wear although some indicated that it might be more accurate to say that they might wear these clothes, but not in public! The club wants to thank the above plus additional dancers drafted in for a couple of performances – we really appreciate your support and bravery! We also want to thank all those who helped in the organisation of the event, at rehearsals and on the night and the staff of the Social Centre. Finally we want to thank all those who bought tickets and came along on the night – we really appreciate your support and, from what we have heard so far, the
audience were not disappointed! The participants gathered for a few celebratory drinks on Sunday evening and far from saying ‘I’ll never do that again’, the experience seems to have
unearthed hidden talent and much courage and they are already looing forward to their next outing ‘on the stage’! The Club would also like to thank Anita Finnegan, Joanne Marron and Edna Forde for helping all the acts to get ready and were there every night to help at practices fair play to these three women who give up their time to help out. Also the club would like to thank P.J Forde, Gerard Mc Geough, Brendan Finnegan (Senior) and Frank Marron for their hard work to.
