On Saturday June 29th there was the annual U8 Monster Blitz held in VBC Center of Excellence (COE) Cloghan. The aim of this blitz was to get as many young players as possible from each club in the county to participate in Gaelic Football. Over 500 kids from 28 clubs showcased their skills here on the day. All games were played as Small Sided 5 v 5, meaning everyone got plenty of touches of the ball and got to try out different positions. Each team played a total of 4 games at 10 minutes a half.
The U8s are back playing on Saturday the 13th of July for their next round of fixtures.
In addition to this the U10 Monster Blitz was held in VBC COE Cloghan just a week later on the 6th of July. Likewise, these kids were here to enjoy a day of Gaelic Football. We had 27 clubs join us bringing over 400 kids. Each game lasted 22 minutes broken into 3 periods; the middle period was focused on using the non-dominant side of the body. Each club got to play a total of 4 games.
The U10s are back playing on the 20th of July for their next round of fixtures.
Finally, thanks to all the clubs for attending and supporting the Go Games programme. Without the referees the games wouldn’t be possible and a big thank you to them.
Also, thanks to all the volunteers for helping with the car park over the both days, and to all volunteer coaches and coaching staff that ensured that all ran smoothly over the both days.
See below a selection of photos from the both days.
