Monaghan Coaching & Games staff and Ulster Regional Hurling Officer, Eamon Blaney have been rolling out  club nursery programme for U6 coaches in both football and hurling throughout the county.

To date the coaching staff have delivered a coaching workshop for club coaches working at this age group, these were held in different venues / regions throughout the county. These venues included, Monaghan Harps, Scotstown, Patrician Hugh School Carrick, Castleblayney College and Monaghan Centre of excellence , Cloghan. Over 140 club coaches attended these workshops, with 26 football clubs attending and all 7 hurling clubs were represented.

This session was then (and will be) followed up with coaching staff  attending individual clubs to assist in delivering a session (2 for each club), this will continue over the summer months. Each club will also receive a Nursery pack, worth in the value of €300. See below a selection of clubs visited to date and the Nursery pack that clubs received.

Nursery Club Development Programme Outline for clubs

· The Nursery Programme we will deliver is to assist with clubs and coaches working with players at under 6’s.

· The main aim is to help coaches develop effective sessions which build on FUNdementals skills and to increase numbers from an early age.

· This programme will be delivered by a full-time member of staff who will be designated to certain clubs across the county.

 

Benefits of this programme

· Develop coaches confidence.

· Getting players started at an earlier age in the hope to increase numbers in your club

· Develop the Fundamental movement skills and basics skills in these players.

· Every club will have a point of contact with a full-time Monaghan Coaching and Games Staff member.

· Equipment packs provided for each club.
