Super Touch Secondary School blitzes come to an end for 2023………

Since September Monaghan Coaching & Games staff have been arranging a Super Touch blitzes for Secondary School students throughout the county. These blitzes cover Football for boys and girls & Hurling & Camogie for 1st and 2nd year students. The purpose of these blitzes is to provide Football, Hurling/Camogie for youths who may not have structured games programme at this time of the year. Also to give boys and girls an opportunity to represent their School who may not otherwise.

These games are 7 a side and schools can enter multiple teams, rules include 2 touch and all scores equal to 1 point. These games are officiated by Transition Years (TY) students, who undertake a TY referee course at the beginning of the School year to help prepare them for refereeing at the blitzes.

This Super Touch programme consisted of  2 first year blitzes for boys & 2 first year blitzes for girls, 1 blitz each for 2nd year boys & girls and a blitz for 1st/2nd year’s in Hurling & Camogie. A total of 7 blitzes altogether.

Throughout this programme we had an excellence response from all the Schools, we would like to thank Patriciain High School, Inver College, St Louis Girls Secondary School Carrick, Castleblayney College, Our Ladys Secondary School, Ballybay Community College, Beech Hill, Colaiste Oirrial, St Macartans, St Louis Girls Secondary School Monaghan and Largy College for supporting and attending the blitzes. Additionally, we would like to thank all the teachers for their assistance at each of the blitzes, also to all the TY students who refereed or managed teams. Finally, to all the players who participated in each of the blitzes.
