Doohamlet Club Notes 30.11.2023

By Majella Boyd Sun 3rd Dec

Minister for Rural and Community Development and Minister for Social Protection Heather Humphreys officiated the unveiling.  Before the unveiling, we had a tree-planting ceremony in honour of Eamonn Connolly and Mickey Mc Eneaney two great club stalwarts.  Thanks to Ronnie and Daisy Sloane for sponsoring the trees for the ceremony.  There was a huge attendance present and after the unveiling, everyone was invited to the community hall for light refreshments.  Preceding the unveiling Doohamlet G.F.C. had a 24-hour walk and some of the money raised will be donated to Castleblayney Cancer Care.  The evening was a great success and a lovely community event.   Our Chairperson P.J. Meehan spoke from the heart about Eamonn and Mickey and spoke about their contribution to the club and community.

Doohamlet O Neills G.F.C. would like to thank all public groups that have helped, get us, to this the first stage of many of the major re-development of Doohamlet O Neills, we are very grateful for all the funding that we have received, without their help, we would not be as far on as we are today.  Our recreation track has proved a great success since it was completed and is being used day and night by all members of our community, it’s a great facility to have and something that will benefit all members of our club and community in the years ahead. We would like to thank our army of volunteers who turned up on several occasions to help get the track completed, to everyone who took part in our 24-hour walk that preceded this unveiling, and for all the donations that we have received. Thanks to everyone who helped prepare for the event in any way, your help and time were greatly appreciated.   Some of the money raised will be donated to Castleblayney Cancer Care.

We would like to thank the hall committee for the use of the hall and for helping to prepare for the event.  Thanks, also to the Tidy Towns committee and the Doohamlet District community development association for their continued support.
