Annual General Meeting: Our club AGM was held last night, Friday the 1st of December in the Social Centre. The meeting was well attended. The Secretary’s report was read out by Ann Blanche, which outlined all club affairs of 2023. Our new Club Website was then officially launched, and Paddy thanked Derek Dolan for developing the website and Daniel Duffy and Killian McGeough for their work in launching it. This was followed by the financial report by treasurer Debbie McArdle, which gave a comprehensive and in-depth review of the club’s

accounts. A juvenile report was read out by Youth Officer Finbarr Crowe, who gave a detailed account of each of our juvenile teams’ seasons.

The chairman’s address: Paddy Markey thanked all those who helped throughout the year. He started his report by thanking our Senior management led by Lee Conlan and all the players on their efforts in maintaining Senior status for 2024, making it three consecutive years at Senior level. He thanked Keith Sheridan and KSH our main sponsor for all their much appreciated support. He congratulated Micheál Bannigan on becoming the Vice Captain of the county team and also congratulated Kevin Sheridan and Joel Wilson for representing the county team this year. He congratulated Sean Murtagh on being called up to the County Minor panel and Ben McGeough on being called up to the County Under 15 panel. He congratulated all our juvenile players on their performances during the year and thanked all those involved from Under 6 up. He congratulated all the successful teams of 2023, with our Under 15s winning an historic Division 1 league and Championship double, as well as the National Féile Shield and our Under 18s winning the Division 2 Championship for only the second time in the clubs history being the standout moments from another hugely successful year for our juveniles. He thanked Finbarr for the excellent job he done as youth officer over the last three years and wished him well in his new role. He thanked all the underage coaches, first aiders and those who sponsored food and gear for our juveniles. He thanked all those who assisted the club in anyway in particular to Keith Sheridan and KSH our club sponsors and to the many sponsors that have come on board, Chris & Angela Keenan – Keebride Construction, John Lennon & Lennon girls- Tusker, Conal & Ciara O’Reilly – NRG Panel, Andrew & Lorraine McNally – McNally Brothers, Shane Mulligan – Tree Maintenance & Forestry Services, Mickey & Louise Ward (Australia), Manor Farm and Gabriel Bannigan – Klass Oil. Paddy expressed his appreciation to all the lotto sellers for driving the roads every week collecting lottos which funds the day to day running of our club. He thanked everyone for their support in our OsKaRs fundraiser, which was hugely successful and one which will be talked about and remembered for years to come. Paddy commended our development committee in securing various grants which were essential in the development of club grounds throughout the year. In relation to the bar, he thanked Tina Duffy for her great work as manager as well as Ollie Morrissey as chef and the bar staff for their work all year. He encouraged all club members to avail of the wonderful facilities we have and support the bar. Paddy congratulated all those involved in running the summer camp, which was once again a huge success with almost 250 children attending, our highest ever attendance. He also thanked his Club officers Secretary Ann Blanche and Treasurer Debbie McArdle for their enormous commitment and effort in their jobs over the last 5 years. He thanked Killian McGeough for his work as Pro throughout the year. He sympathised with all those who suffered bereavement during the year, in particular to ‘Wee’ Peter Geoghegan (RIP), who was a lifelong supporter of the club and a true blue. He congratulated all those who married, got engaged or became parents during the year.

Movember Shave Night: Our Movember Shave Night was held on Saturday night last in the Social Centre, where the Aughnamullen lads said goodbye to their moustaches which they had grown through the month of November (and the year for some…). The lads had raised over an unbelievable €7,800 prior to the night, which was boosted by another €325 collected on the night for Sean Sheridan’s adventurous head shave. On top of this, the Latton lads donated a further €500 of their funds to the pot which was for a most worthy cause in men’s mental health and cancer awareness charities. A huge thank you goes out to all who donated in any way, your support is much appreciated. Well done to the lads on their efforts for a great cause. A massive thank you also to Danielle Reyburn for cutting the lads’ hair. The award for Best Tache went to Kieran ‘Whack’ Duffy, while the award for Worst Tache went to Kieran Marron. Both lads are pictured below receiving their prizes. Following the shave, a surprise presentation of the Aughnamullen jersey was made by the Lee Conlan and the players to outgoing Chairman Paddy Markey as a mark of their appreciation for his work and support for the team this year and the previous five years – well deserved Paddy. A great night was had by all, and more importantly, an amazing amount was raised for worthy causes.

Ladies: Congratulations to our senior team who won the Junior Championship shield on Sunday. They had a comprehensive win over Killeevan with a scoreline of 3:10- 1:06.
