Scotstown GAA Ulster Senior Championship quarter final against Kilcoo this Sunday

The Scotstown GAA senior men begin their 2023 Ulster Senior Championship campaign against Kilcoo GAC in the quarter final in Newry this Sunday November 12th at 3:15pm. We wish our Senior team and management the very best on Sunday and encourage as many of our supporters to travel to Páirc Esler as possible to give our senior men your support. An Bhoth Abú!

Please note this game is a double header with the intermediate county champions of Monaghan, Killanny playing Liatroim at 1:00pm. We encourage our supporters to go to that game as well and to give our support to our fellow county club. We wish Killanny all the best in their Ulster Championship campaign.

Senior Ladies qualify for LGFA Division 1 League Semi FInals

Our Senior Ladies had no games in the past week. Their Round 1 game against Truagh away for Sunday last was cancelled in the Senior LGFA Division 1 League as Truagh conceded and Scotstown were awarded the points. Congratulations to the Ladies who have now qualified for the LGFA Senior Division 1 League Semi Finals after finishing an amazing 3rd in the Division 1 League table with 1 round robin game remaining. Well done girls. They next play Carrickmacross at home in Round 5 of the Senior League this Sunday 12th November at 11:00am.

Our Blues Upcoming Competitive Fixtures

On Sunday 12th November our Senior Men play Kilcoo in the Quarter Final of the Ulster Senior Championship in Newry at 3:15pm and our Senior Ladies play Carrickmacross at home in Round 5 of the LGFA Senior Football League at 11:00am.

Scotstown GAA Online Club Lotto – Jackpot €12,600!!

Thanks to everyone involved in our online lotto draw for a €12,400 jackpot on Wednesday 8th November. Please see our Social Media platforms for more details of the results.

In the November 1st draw there was no Jackpot winner. Numbers drawn on the night were 1, 3, 9, 17. There were 2 Match 3 Winners of €50 – Virginia Beggan and Mark McDevitt. We had 3 Lucky Dip winners who win €20 each – Michelle Myers, Colin Heaphey and Cyril McCrudden. Congratulations to all our winners! The Scotstown GAA online Lotto Draw takes place every Wednesday at 8:30pm with last entries at 8pm. The draw is conducted on-line and is fully automated using secure facilities. There are 4 numbers to choose from a range of 1 to 31. Match the 4 numbers to win the Jackpot of €12,600. If no jackpot winner €200 is rolled over to the following week. Also if there is no jackpot winner there will be lucky dips. Next draw is Wednesday November 15th at 8:30pm.

Monaghan Minor 2023 Presentation and All Star awards

A massive Congratulations to Seán Óg McElwain, Darcy Foy, Tommy Mallen, Donnchadh Connolly and Max Maguire on their Monaghan GAA All Ireland final runners up medals and presentation in the Four Seasons last weekend. Well done and a massive Congratulations to Seán Óg McElwain, and Tommy Mallen on their presentation of the Electric Ireland All Star Awards and being named on the All Ireland Minor Team of the Year, also on the same night.

Paint the Parish Blue!

Many thanks to all those involved in putting the flags and bunting up around in the villages of the parish. Well done on a great job making the villages looking fantastic. Well done on the installation of the large masterpiece display in the centre of the village Our Senior men commence their Ulster campaign this Sunday November 12th. So please if you already haven’t already, get all you’re An Bhoth flags and paraphernalia out and Paint the Parish Blue!

Congratulations to Brian McGinnity and Sara Mullen

Well done and congratulations to Brian McGinnity and Sara Mullen on being appointed to the management team of the LGFA Under 16 Monaghan County Football girls. Brian has been named joint manager and Sara is part of the backroom team. We wish the team all the best.

Cairde na Botha – 3rd Year Registration due

We recently had a registration, information and donation night in the Scotstown GAA Social Club in the Complex. Many thanks to all those involved. For those who subscribed last year and are on the 4 year subscription plan, the 3rd year subscription is now due. New members are more than welcome to sign up to Cairde. Thanks!

Scotstown Cairde Na Botha wish to thank all those who have supported this historical fundraising project so far. We thank you for your continued support. The aim of Cairde Na Botha is to improve and develop our Kilmore training facilities to help achieve our vision of continuously improving our success on-field for our teams and off-field for our community. We fondly remember fundraising projects in the past, such as the Scotstown Carnival in the 1960s to the purchase of our main field at Urbleshanny,The Lord Mayor Campaign in the 1980s to fund the building of Sportlann Mhuire (the complex) and development of St. Marys Park and indeed, the ambitious purchase Of Kilmore in 1995 which has contributed to the outstanding success we achieve today.

Health and Wellbeing – GAA For All Training

Scotstown GAA Health and Wellbeing are working in collaboration with Truagh Gaels & Emyvale GAA Club to form a GAA for All juvenile team. This is football training specifically aimed at children with Additional Needs. GAA for All kicked off for a 4 week block on Saturday last 4th November at St. Mellan’s GAA Park in Truagh Well done to everyone involved. Please contact Geraldine on 087 4269650 for further information or to register your child. Or if you are aware of a family that may be interested from the north Monaghan area please pass this information on. This is part of our Healthy Club initiative. Please note, Paul O’Callaghan’s, from Ulster GAA, workshop scheduled for Monday 6th of November from 7-9 in St Mellan’s, has been postponed to the New Year.

Scotstown GAA continues this year with its Healthy Club project which aims to help GAA clubs explore how they support the holistic health of their members and the communities they serve.

As we enter the winter months we will be renewing the Make a Ceili initiative.

Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others

Gaelic For Mothers & others outdoor training has ended for the year and training will be indoors from now on. All welcome to come along. As there is no competition for the group there is no pressure to attend every week. You can join in at any stage and come when it suits you. You need to be over 25 and living in the parish. Why not come all and give it a go!!

Happy 90th Birthday to Hughie McGuirk

We wish Hughie McGuirk a very happy 90th Birthday! Hughie was a 1960 Senior Championship winner with Scotstown.
