Doohamlet Club Notes 14.09.2023

Doohamlet G.F.C Results: Our Senior team played Clones in the fourth round of the Mc Elvaney Waste & Recycling Intermediate Championship last Sunday afternoon in O Neill’s Park Doohamlet.  Clones opened the scoring in the opening minute with a point and Doohamlets Barry Mc Ginn replied with a welltaken point.  Doohamlet is awarded a penalty and Captain Barry Mc Bennett steps up to the mark and strikes the back of the netThe teams traded scores with a point from Barry Mc Bennett and two points from Midfielder Jamie Walshe.  Just before the half-time whistle Niall Johnny Connolly hits the back of the Clones net leaving Doohamlet leading by four points at half-time.  The half-time score was Doohamlet 2-4 Clones 0-6. 

Clones open the scoring in the second half with a point, Barry Mc Bennett replies with a point from play, Clones hits their second of this half and Ciarán Markey scores a point keeping us ahead by four points.  Ciarán Mc Manus replaces Eoin Markey. A great bit of play resulted in Barry Mc Ginn on the ball, and he confidently hit the back of the Clones net. Barry Mc Bennett puts another over the bar. Oisin O Neill replaces Darren Connolly and Kevin Mc Ardle replaces Niall J. Connolly Clones convert a free kick and   Barry Mc Bennett converts a free and Doohamlet go ahead by six points.  Jack Mc Elroy replaces Damien Ward. Clones are awarded a penalty which they convert and brings it back to three points between the teams. The final whistle blows and Doohamlet wins the game by three points with the final score Doohamlet 3-9 Clones 1-12.  Well done to the team and management.  This was a vital win for the team to keep our hopes alive for the Championship.  Team: James Casey, Jason Mc Elroy, Conor Marray, Gavin King, Darren Connolly, Sean Markey, Damien Ward, Jamie Walshe (0-2) Barry Mc Bennett (Capt.)(1- 5) Hugh Mc Ginn, Barry Mc Ginn (1-1) Eoin Markey, Ciarán Markey (0-1) Colin Walshe, Niall J. Congratulations to the amalgamated St. Kevins team who won the Bogue Food Hall U15 Div 3 Semi-final against Cremartin on Sunday morning last. Well done to all involved.  The final scoreline was St. Kevins 2-12 Cremartin 1-13.   

Doohamlet G.F.C. Fixtures: U-17s play Drumhowan in Division 3 Group B in R2 of the championship in Drumhowan at noon on Saturday the 16th Sept.  

Our Senior team plays Neighbours Cremartin in the final round of the Mc Elvaney Waste & Recycling Intermediate Football Championship this Sunday at 2 pm in Cremartin.  Best of luck to the team and management.  Come along and support the team.
