Seniors: Donaghmoyne secured their place in the senior ranks for 2024 with a 4-14 to 0-7 win over Ballybay on Saturday in the last round of the relegation round robin.
Ballybay missing a number of regular starters opened the scoring with a point from the throw in but Donaghmoyne soon took control of affairs with early goals from Ronan McDonald and Davy Garland to move into a six point lead after 10 minutes. Ballybay pulled one back in the 11th minute only for Donaghmoyne to extend the lead to 8 with points from Ronan McDonald, Declan Courtney and Liam McDonald. Ballybay responded with the final 3 points of the first half to trail by 5 at the break.
The second half opened with points from Stephen Finnegan and Liam McDonald, Ballybay took their total to 6 after 4 minutes but from then on, the Fontenoys took control of the game hitting 7 unanswered points four from Davy Garland and one each from James McCaghey, Christopher Cunningham and Liam McDonald. Ballybay registered their final score in the 26th minute but Donaghmoyne were not easing off and finished off the scoring with a goal and a point from Davy Garland and a long range goal from Stephen Finnegan who spotted the Ballybay keeper off his line.
Well done to the players and management on all their effort throughout the season and ensuring that we will be playing senior football next season.
U17s: The U17s take on Clontibret in their Semi-final on Sunday October 22nd at 12.00pm in Donaghmoyne please support the lads.
