Conor McSkeane Memorial Tournament: On Saturday morning we hosted our annual Conor McSkeane Memorial Tournament in glorious sunshine with teams from Aughnamullen, Truagh, Carrickmacross, Killanny and Geraldines from County Louth all taking part. There were some fantastic games across the three age groups of U9 boys, U11 boys and U12 girls. Well done to the U9 Aughnamullen boys, the Truagh U11 boys and the Donaghmoyne U12 girls’ team who were all presented with the trophies for the most skilled teams.
The tournament was a huge success and all the Children had a most great morning playing football and enjoying the refreshments and Ice Cream. Every player received a Conor McSkeane memorial goody bag while all the mentors and spectators enjoyed the burgers and a cup of tea.
We would like to acknowledge all the hard work and kind sponsorship which helped to make the day such a memorable one. A big thankyou to Alan Duffy and all the organising team who made sure that everything ran like clockwork, a special word of thanks for all the donations of food and to everyone who helped out with the tea and BBQs. Thank you to the referees and umpires, the first aiders and all the stewards who helped with the car parking.
We give a special word of thanks to our generous sponsors, The Nest Box Egg Company, Rangeland Foods for the supply and sponsorship of the burgers, Brendan McMahon of Johnson Mooney &
O’Brien for the sponsorship of the burger baps and Enda from McMoos Ice Cream and lastly to everyone who donated to the collection buckets.
The Conor McSkeane Memorial Tournament is an important part of our clubs footballing calendar and thanks to the hard work of the McSkeane family and friends it continues to grow year on year.
