Our senior men played out an entertaining draw in the last round of the IFC Round robin against Monaghan Harps in damp conditions on Sunday past.
With a slippery ball it took 5 minutes before the first score, a point from the Harps. They followed that up with a second before we raised the green flag.
It was nip and tuck with no team getting on top until the 28th minute when we scored another goal. This left us 3 up at half time, 2-04 to 0-07.
Upon the restart we scored our third goal to go 6 up, but the Harps hit back with a quick 1-01 to keep the game alive.
The Harps levelled the game 15 minutes into the second half, before we scored our fourth goal. The Harps did not give up and despite us leading for long periods the game ended in a draw, 4-09 to 2-15.
The result means that we finish third in the group and look forward to a Q/F against Killanny on Sunday week, venue Carrickmacross.
U13 boys are Division 1 champions after an enthralling contest against an excellent Maghercloone side. The conditions were difficult but didn’t stop this young outfit racing into the lead with 2 early goals to settle them into the game. Maghercloone battled back into it and took the lead with 5 minutes to go however Blayney refused to concede and kicked some fantastic points to win by 2.
A brilliant performance from the lads and congratulations.

On Friday night past, the U12 B team faced Killanny in the Div 4 league final. Played in horrendous conditions, the girls got off to the worst possible start. After 12 minutes of play the scoreline was 1-1 to 5-1 in Killanny’s favour. Facing a mammoth task, the girls played bravely and gave everything they had to get it back to within 3 points with 5 minutes to go. Unfortunately, the girls final few attacks didn’t result in scores and Killanny ran out winners on the night. Huge credit must go to the girls for battling back and it shows how much they have developed over the season. Well done also, to the A team who put together their best performance of the year to overcome Donaghmoyne in a tough challenge match.
Minor ladies
Sunday morning our minor ladies travelled to Scotstown to play the league semi final. This was billed to be a tough encounter but the girls rose to the challenge from the very start. With driving runs, some superb individual and team play Blayney notched up some wonderful scores. At the half time whistle they were 9 points up. The second half started with the same enthusiasm and Blayney got some great points to add to the scoreboard. The girls finished the stronger team on a score line of 7-9 to 4-11 and now meet Carrickmacross in the final. Congratulations to the team and management on a great performance and result.
