Jimmy Martin Funeral

Sunday saw the funeral of Jimmy Martin. Jimmy will be missed around the club and parish , there wasn’t a day go by that you wouldn’t see Jimmy calling around each ground to see who was playing.

Wedding Congrats

We wish congrats to former player John Mc Mahon and Denise Matthews, who got married last week.  Best of luck in the future and we hope to be seeing them more around the club over the next few years!

Seniors

The seniors played Scotstown at the weekend, a disappointing performance against a Scotstown team who clicked on the day and everything went right for them. There is a 3 week break now until the next Championship match, which will give the lads good time to recharge.

U9’s

Having being invited down to participate in an U9.5 Festival of Football in Dromintee, on Saturday we arrived with 34 players.

We fielded two teams, one in the Cup competition and one in the Shield. As they use half years in the North, we were able to bring a number of our younger cohort of U11’s.

They added the extra bit of experience which would be required, as we were playing against some of the top clubs in Ulster. In the Cup Competition we played played Culloville, Trillick (Tyrone) and the hosts Dromintee in our first group. Having topped that group unbeaten, we then played Cookstown (Tyrone), Kilcoo (Down) and Dromintee.

Again we were unbeaten, and were awarded the prestigious Most Skillfull Team of the Tournament Award. Each member of the squad was presented with a new football with which to further practice their skills. In the Shield Tournament, which was also U9.5, we fielded a very young team. But these are a very talented young bunch, and they acquitted themselves very well playing at a much higher level than they would ever have faced, playing against Crossmaglen, Killeavy and Dromintee (Armagh), Killeeshil (Tyrone) and Saval (Down).

Their efforts were very impressive, and there is no doubt that of we are invited back next year, that they will rival any team in the Cup Competition. Thanks must be expressed to all the parents who traveled, and especially for their support during the day.

U7’s/ Academy

The U7s had a very good home blitz in Sean against Oram, Sean McDermotts and Blackhill
