Football Development Squads conclude their competitive Programme for 2023
Monaghan U15 Development Squad concluded their season with games against Mayo & Westmeath (see report below).
Monaghan v Mayo
An early start for Monaghan U15 boys heading west to play Mayo in McHale Park in what was an exciting way for this team to finish off the competitive matches for the year. Playing with the aid of a strong wind in the first half our lads battled for every ball and dominated on the scoreboard. 2-9 to 0-5 at the break and after a quick reset and few changes our lads took to the field expecting a hard press from Mayo and that’s what they got. Weathering the storm we were able to defend well and counter at pass and finish with accuracy eventually kicking a further 1-9 to finish on a scoreline of 3-18 to 1-9.
Monaghan v Westmeath
Monaghan U15 final competitive game of the year gave us a chance to get game time into all squad players who came up against a strong Westmeath team. Both halves of football threw up challenges that our players met head on. Playing with the aid of and against a strong wind tested technical skills, decision making ability and confidence levels. With the year coming to a close we have been happy to be able to give players numerous chances to show off their skill, attitude and effort and look forward to players pushing over to the make Minor squads and continuing their development with the U16 squad.
