U11s Spring League 2023
The U11s Spring League commenced on Saturday 8th April and was played over 6 weeks with the last game been the Spring League finals day. Due to Monaghan progressing to All Ireland football semi finals and clashing of dates clubs had to host the finals day. Each participate received a medal for taking part in the spring league. Additionally there was a most skillful team award between the two teams playing each other. Skills focus here was punt kicking (over 15m) and reach catch. Scores were recorded and the winning team received a plaque.
A huge thank you to all clubs involved and for organizing the final round of games.
U11 Liam Stirrat Development League commences….
On Thursday 27th July we had a Coach Development evening for U11s coaches before the Liam Stirrat Development League commenced. The purpose of this was to make coaches aware of the structure and layout for Liam Stirrat Development League.
Liam Stirrat was a great GAA man and had great love for his club Scotstown but also for Monaghan GAA. Liam served with distinction as both Chairman of Monaghan County Board and also managing Monaghan Senior Football team. Liam had great success in managing teams both with Scotstown & Monaghan. Whilst managing teams Liam had a great understanding of developing players in particularly their skill set, with this in mind this is why we introduced the U11 Liam Stirrat Development League & a skill focus for each round.
In terms of skill development, over the first 5 rounds there will be a skill focus each week, for the first week the skill to focus is the overhead/reach catch. On the last round of games, there is no skill focus but there is an award for the most skillful player on each team which will be selected by the opposition coaches.
Monaghan Coaching & Games would like to wish all clubs, coaches and players all the best for the remainder of U11 season..
