Seniors: It was a disappointing start to our championship campaign when a penalty deep into injury time saw Clontibret snatch what seemed an unlikely win having trailed for nearly all of the second half.
Playing against a strong breeze in the first half Donaghmoyne lead at half time 0-6 to 0-5 with points from Stephen Finnegan, Declan Courtney (2), Ronan McDonald (2) and Davy Garland. The second half started with a Garland point from play, Clontibret pulled one back but a Garland free moved Donaghmoyne two points clear after 9 minutes. Further scores from McDonald and Garland moved the Fontenoys into a 3 point lead with 13 minutes left to play. Clontibret pulled one back but two from Garland moved Donaghmoyne into a four point lead with only minutes remaining. Clontibret responded with a goal and a point to level matters but Mickey Murnaghan restored Donaghmoynes lead with normal time up. With the home crowd calling for the final whistle Clontibret pushed forward in search of an equalizer and were awarded a penalty which was converted by McManus despite the best efforts of Shane Garland in goals. Final Score 0-13 to 2-9.
Next up is an away tie with Inniskeen on Saturday at 6.30pm please come and support the team.
U17s: There was disappointment for the U17s in the league final on Monday evening when they were made to regret a number of missed chances in the first half against a strong St. Tiernach Patrick outfit. The combination outfit were clinical in front of goal and made good use of the strong first half wind to open up a commanding lead. Donaghmoyne battled hard in the second half but were unable to convert some good possession into scores. Final Score 4-9 to 1-5.
U15s: The division 1 team had a good win over Scotstown in the first group game of the championship 2-15 to 4-6. Their next game is away to Magheracloone on Thursday at 7.00pm. The B team are also away to Magheracloone on Friday at 7.00pm.
U13s: Both U13 teams lost out away to Magheracloone in the third round of the championship group games.
