Reserve League Final

Our finale took us all the way to Corduff to take on Cremartin on Saturday evening. The clouds weren’t long drawing in, and the torrents of rain hammered players and spectators alike. Conditions were appalling for the time of year and left the game very pedestrian for much of the first half as the players tried to keep their footing. Cremartin had grasped the initiative and kept tipping over points and moving the score on as the rain subsided. However, we were more than in touch come half time with only being two points behind. Once again, the rain was back for the second period, but Cremartin were undeterred, and three quick points put them in front by five. The Seans seem to be spurned by this and having pulled back a point from play they had a daring run through the heart of Cremartins defence and stuck the ball to the net. We were now all square and game on again. But alas it wasn’t to be, and the lads just couldn’t get the breaks to push on as the opposition slotted over points and rattled the net twice. The eventual outcome was defeat by seven points. However, we must acknowledge the willingness and loyalty of players new and past who stepped up to the mark to fulfil fixtures during the competition. Once a Seans player always a Seans player and that is what we must compliment the team on. The result is only a statistic, the disappointment temporary, but the names will play on. Well done to all players and management.

U17’s

Our final game of the league had Cremartin as our visitors on Thursday night. This was always going to be a tight affair and it didn’t disappoint. The Seans made positive moves and went in front by two points which they held until the break. It was a stop start affair in the second half with points exchanged but a goal by the

visitors midway through the second half gave them the required lift. Despite our best efforts the margin of one point couldn’t be crossed and it was a win for the opposition. Our cup fixtures will now depend on results but likely to leave a semi final place for us on the 14th of Aug.

U13’s

It was another frustrating day for the 13’s as they hosted Aghabog in the Cup. A highly charged affair as both teams went full on from the off. Aghabog had established a firm lead by the break but this did not daunt our squad as they dug deep in the second period to come within a goal of our guests. However, they were out on their feet with injury and exhaustion and as the tank emptied, Aghabog tagged on the killer scores for victory. Hard luck to the lads as they gave it their all on the day.
