Crawley Cup Final: Congratulations must go to our Reserve team and management on a fantastic Championship Final win over a gallant Ballybay team last Friday evening in a rain soaked Truagh.
The game was a late change from Aghabog to Truagh due to a waterlogged pitch in Aghabog, but that did little to break the focus of the team and management. Ballybay opened the scoring after some early exchanges with David Duffy replying from play before the reliable Stephen Askin tapped over Emyvale’s second point from a free. Ballybay had some possesion but wasted a few chances to put points on the board with Emyvale being the more clinical of the two teams with the ever-lively Jack Kelly setting down a marker of intent with a fine point from play. Harvey Colleran extended the lead with a point from a free. Ballybay struck back with a goal to leave the teams all square at 4pts each. Dylan Sherry’s hard work was rewarded with a score from play before Ballybay equalised with a point. This was a catalyst for an Emyvale purple patch and on 24 minutes the silky David Duffy billowed the Ballybay net for Emyvale’s first goal. With their tails up Emyvale hunted down Ballybay, creating turnovers and putting the ball to good use with that man again Jack Kelly hitting Emyvale’s second goal with Stephen Askin adding a free kick to leave it 2:06-1:02 at halftime. The second half began with Ballybay pulling back a point before Eoghan Treanor showed some class with a driving free from the ground 17 minutes into the half. Scores were hard earned with slippy conditions a hinderance, but Conor McQuillan added Emyvale’s next score 22 minutes into the half with a good point from play. Dylan Sherry got his second point of the evening two minutes later. Ballybay were pressing harder in the second half and got some rewards with a goal to pull the gap to 6pts. This was Ballybays last score, but Emyvale finished off in style with a beautiful point from 40 mtrs by Ryan Treanor to leave a winning score of Emyvale 2:10-2:03 Ballybay. A great achievement by everyone involved and a welcome piece of silverware was raised by captain Ryan Kelly.

County News: It was a heartbreaking ending for Monaghan in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Series on Saturday last in Headquarters. Monaghan gave it all they had but were narrowly pipped at the death by a late clinical streak from the old heads in the Dublin team. Monaghan went down with their boots on and gave the strong support a sense of immense pride and fond memories of their summer of football and an epic All-Ireland semifinal. Once again Ryan and Karl were at the forefront of that push for glory and the club is extremely proud of our Senior and Minor County hero’s this season and we look forward to seeing you all back in the black and white of Emyvale.
Well Done to Emyvale players Dervla Cawley and Sophie Power and the rest of the Monaghan Minor girls’ team who played Galway in the ZuCar Ladies Minor “A” grade Gaelic Football All-Ireland Semi Final last night, Wednesday 19th July in Longford. No result at time of press but we hope you made it to the final girls!
