Doohamlet Club Notes 13.07.2023

Doohamlet G.F.C. Results: Our Senior team played Killanny in Round 9 of the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football league on Saturday evening last at home in Doohamlet.  Doohamlet opened the scoring with a point from Jamie Walshe, and two points in succession from Barry Mc Bennett from free kicks, however Killanny stretched ahead with a goal and a few points, and we got a further two scores before half-time with another point from captain Barry Mc Bennett and a point from Barry Mc Ginn, leaving the score at half-time Doohamlet 0-5 Killanny 1-6.  Doohamlet got off to a great start in the second half with a goal from Conor Marray bringing us right back into the game.  Kevin Mc Ardle replaces Oisin O Neill.  Both teams tradescores with a point from Barry Mc Bennett and a well-placed ball from Barry Mc Bennett into Barry Mc Ginn who palms the ball into the back of the net, however, minutes later Killanny replied with a goal at the other end.  Jack Mc Elroy replaces David Mc Ginn and Eoin Coleman replaces injured Eoin Markey. Barry Mc Bennett gets another point from play to bring it to just a point between the sides, In the dying minutes substitute Eoin Coleman puts the ball over the bar and equalizes the game with Killanny.  hard-fought draw for the team, well done to all the team and management.  The final scoreline was Doohamlet 2-08 (14)  Killanny 2-08 (14).

Inter-County Football:  We at Doohamlet G.F.C are so proud of our County Minor Team reaching the All- Ireland Final and to Player Mattie Duffy, Coach Paul O Connor and team assistant Jo Jo Mc Donald. 

We would like to wish every success to our senior county team and management on Saturday when they play Dublin in the All-Ireland semi-final.
