Seniors: Donaghmoyne came back from a 6 point deficit at halftime to beat Clontibret by 5 in a text book game of two halves on Friday evening. Playing against the wind in the first half, a below par Donaghmoyne side only managed to score two points from Ronan McDonald frees to Clontibrets 8 points. The second half saw the Fontenoys play with a lot more energy and focus scoring from a McDonald free in the first minute, things got even better for the home side two minutes later when Declan Courtney forced home a goal from a high ball into the square following some good work from second half substitute Cormac O’Connor. The visitors pulled one back but 3 unanswered scores from Gavin McSkeane, Shane Garland and Christopher Cunningham had the sides level 8 minutes into the second half. The next score came on the 14th minute with Clontibret edging ahead only to be rocked by another Donaghmoyne goal following a lovely flowing move straight from the restart which ended with Niall Keenan punching home a floated pass from Ciaran Finnegan. Two more McDonald frees and a second Christopher Cunningham point moved Donaghmoyne into a 5 point lead Clontibret pulled one back but the last score was another fisted effort this time from Liam Martin to leave the final score 2-10 to 0-11. Well done lads the next game is away this Saturday to Scotstown at 7.00pm,

Reserves: The reserves were beaten by Scotstown in the league last Wednesday evening 3-9 to 1-11. Their next game is this Tuesday July 04th at 8.00pm home v Monaghan Harps.

Donaghmoyne Golf Classic: Our annual fund raising golf classic sponsored by IGWT was held in Mannan Castle on Friday last and despite the occasional shower the conditions didn’t dampen the scoring with some very impressive totals posted by the top 3 teams.

The Longest Drive was won by Moynas Bar Scotstown, and Jim McMahon Magheracloone won the Nearest the pin prize.

Padraig Finnegans team sponsored by Damien Cummiskey came 3rd on 93 points and won 4 green fees & a meal in Concra Wood.

Nallos Bar came second on 98 points and won 4 green fees & a meal in Rossmore Park.

First Place on a huge 105 points went to the team of Damien Cummiskey, Micheal Burns, Eamon Burns and James King. They were presented with the first prize of an overnight stay at Moyvalley hotel and Golf Course in Kildare.

The Raffle winners on the night were Noel Marron, Tom Whyte, Fergal Brady, Shane Kelly & Noel Marron.

The Golf Classic is a very important fund raiser for the club and we would like to acknowledge the generous sponsorship we received from our main sponsors IGWT and from all our other sponsors and teams for their continued support. We would also like to thank everyone who volunteered on the day especially the main organiser Tony Rooney who made sure everything ran like clockwork, Tracy McConnell, Ann Finnegan and Shauna Finlay who helped with registering the teams, to Andrew and Linda Ennis who helped out with the scoring and raffle and to all the staff at Mannan Castle for all their help and having the course in such immaculate condition.
