Hurling Summer camp wrapped up on Wednesday 12th July after 3 days of fun and games and hurling skills led by our coaches, Niall Garland & Peter Treanor with plenty of help from Senior, Minor & County players as well as committee members and parents. Over 100 children enjoyed the camp and went home on Wednesday afternoon, clad in their classy camp tops, after lovely food supplied by Raymond Watters of Watters Maxol & Londis Castleblayney. The club are very appreciative of Raymond’s generosity. Thanks also to Ray & Dominic of The Mascot for their continued support, to Brendan Boyd who provided First Aid over the 3 days, to the Faughs club & Castleblayney College for the use of their facilities and lastly to Glenn Murphy who captured the images so well, without all of you, this would not have been possible.

Referees we are actively encouraging people who have played the game to consider taking up the referee mantle. Without referees our games cannot go ahead, it is a way of giving back to the game and indeed in staying involved with the GAA family. If you would consider taking up the challenge, contact any committee member who will ensure that you are trained and supported all the way. Give it a go!

Congratulations to Patrick Carragher who was a member of the winning Ulster Rounders Community Games team and also to Finn Flanagan who was on the winning Ulster Football Community Games team. Congratulations boys on your fantastic achievements and best of luck going forward to the next level.

A blast from the past at the weekend when former player, Dessie Reilly dropped into Blayney at the weekend, all the way from Austria. Dessie was on the winning All Ireland Junior Hurling team of 1997 and for obvious reasons wasn’t around when Monaghan GAA presented commemorative plaques to members of the team at their Awards night last Autumn. But Blayney Hurling did it in style and rolled out Noel McGuigan, Jarlath Denny & Hugh Cullen to make the presentation to Dessie! Congratulations Dessie and safe travelling home.
