All Ireland Minor Final

The Farney minors played Derry in the All Ireland Minor Final on Sunday last in the Athletics Ground Armagh. This was the first Minor Final Monaghan have been in since 1939. Hard luck to the Monaghan minors in their 1-13 to 0-9 defeat to a strong Derry side. The Monaghan Minors scored impressive points including 1 superb point each by Seán Óg McElwain and Donnchadh Connolly, and Matthew Finn (0-4) and Max McGinnity (0-3). Congratulations to the Monaghan Minors in their amazing 2023 Minor Championship campaign and in achieving All Ireland Minor Championship finalists, defeating top quality teams such as Kerry, Mayo, Tyrone and held the All Ireland winners Derry after extra time in the Ulster Final. Well done to our Blues on the minor panel, Donnchadh Connolly, Darcy Foy, Sean Óg McElwain, Max Maguire, Tommy Mallen, and the Monaghan team, manager Dermot Malone and his management team, which includes Barry McKenna who is from the parish and has worked successfully with Scotstown teams in the past. You have all bright futures ahead of you. Thanks to Monaghan GAA for the brilliant welcome home reception in Monaghan town that evening.
