Doohamlet G.F.C. Results: On Friday evening last our senior team played Castleblayney Faughs in Round 7 of the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football league in perfect match conditions. Doohamlet got the opening score with a point from Barry Mc Bennett, however, Blayney was awarded a penalty minutes later which they converted and went on to score a further three points giving Blayney a good lead early in the game. However, with two points from Barry Mc Ginn and two points from Oisin O Neill, and a point from Colin Walshe taking Doohamlet right back into the game, Blayney strikes a further five points leaving them at halftime with a five–point advantage with a scoreline of Doohamlet 0-6 Castleblayney 1-08. Doohamlets second half improved from their first-half performance as they got off to a blistering start with Captain Barry Mc Bennett on fire scoring four points in succession bringing Doohamlet right back into the game. Blayney hits their first point of the second half and yet again Barry Mc Bennett is back with another point bringing the game back to a point between the teams. Jack Mc Elroy replaces David Mc Ginn. Ciaran Markey scores a brilliant point drawing the sides for the first time in the game. Blayney scores two points in succession but Barry Mc Bennett replies with two points one from play and one from a free taking the sides back level again. Just before the final whistle Doohamlet gets possession and with great play gets the ball to forward Oisin O Neill who places it over the bar and puts Doohamlet ahead by a point and gives them a well-deserved win, with the final score Doohamlet 0-15 Castleblayney Faughs 1-11. Well done to the team and management on a good win.
