All Ireland Senior County Football Championship Group Stages
The Monaghan Senior team next play Donegal in Round 3 of Group 4 of the All Ireland Senior Football Championship this Saturday June 17th in Healy Park, Omagh at 6:00pm.
Monaghan were drawn as 3rd seeds in Group 4 along with the Ulster Champions Derry, the Munster runners up Clare and Donegal. Monaghan play 3 games, with the first on Saturday 27th May away to Derry in Celtic Park which finished in a draw 0-14 all and both teams earned 1 point in the group. On Sunday June 4th Monaghan beat Clare 1-23 to 1-18 and the last group game is on this Saturday 17th June against Donegal in Omagh at 6:00pm. The top three in each group advance to the knockout stages; first-place teams to the All-Ireland quarter-finals, and second- and third-placed teams to the preliminary quarter-finals. The four second-placed teams play against the third-placed teams in the preliminary quarter-finals. The winners of the preliminary quarter-finals advance to play the group winners in the All-Ireland quarter-finals. Two semi-finals and a final follow. All matches are knock-out. Monaghan are currently top of Group D with the same points (3) and points difference (+5) as Derry, but have scored more points. Monaghan have guaranteed a place in at least the preliminary round.

Under 13s
All of our Under 13 teams had competitive games in the past week.
Well done to our U13 A team in their exciting 3-8 to 2-11 draw at home to Monaghan Harps on Monday last in Round 1 of the U13 Division 1 League Shield. Hard luck to our B team in their defeat away to Truagh on Thursday last in Round 6 of the U13 Division 2 league. Hard luck to our D team in their 4-6 to 2-8 home defeat to Aughnamullen on Wednesday of last week in Round 5 of the U13 Division 6 league, but well done in their away win against Latton on Monday last in Round 6. Hard luck to our C team who lost at home to Tyholland at home on Sunday last in Round 6 of the U13 Division 5 league.

The Scotstown A team play Castleblayney away in Round 3 of the U13 Division 1 League Shield at 11:00am on Saturday 24th June. The Scotstown B team play Tyholland at home in Round 7 of the U13 Division 2 league at 6:30pm on Wednesday 14th June, the Scotstown C team play Corduff away in Round 7 of the U13 Division 5 league at 8:00pm on Wednesday 14th June and the Scotstown D team play Truagh at home in Round 7 of the U13 Division 6 league at 8:00pm on Wednesday 14th June.
Under 15s
Our Under 15 Boys had no games in the past week. Our Under 15 Division 5A boys next play Aughnamullen at home in Round 8 of the U15 Football Division 5A league on Friday 23rd June at 7:30pm.
Under 17s
The Under 17 leagues commences next Monday 19th June. This year we have 2 Under 17 teams. Our Scotstown A team is in Division 1 and their first game is on Tuesday 20th June away to Carrickmacross at 6:45pm in Round 1 of the U17 Division 1 league. Our Scotstown B team is in Division 4 and their first game is on Monday 19th June at home to Aughnamullen at 7:30pm in Round 1 of the U17 Division 4 league. We wish the teams and management all the best this year.
O’Duffy Cup
In the Reserve Championship our Senior reserves will face Donaghmoyne away in the Semi Final on Friday June 23rd at 8pm.
Senior Division 1A Reserves
Our Division 1A Reserves had no games in the past week. Their Round 7 game against Magheracloone away scheduled for Tuesday June 13th at 8:00pm was postponed.
Junior Division 3A Reserves
Our Division 3A Reserves played Blackhill away on Tuesday of last week in Round 7 of the Reserve Division 3A League. The Blues started strongly leading by 4 points after the first quarter 1-3 to 0-2. However Blackhill responded in the second quarter to overturn the lead making a half time score of 1-4 to 1-3 to Blackhill. Blackhill stretched their advantage further in the second half and despite fine scores by the Blues, Blackhill won by 3-9 to 1-9.
They next play Donaghmoyne at home on Tuesday 20th June at 8:00pm in Round 8 of the Reserve League Football Division 3A.
Junior Division 3B Reserves
Hard luck to our Division 3B reserves in their narrow 1-10 to 1-08 defeat away to Monaghan Harps on Sunday last in Round 5 of the Reserve League Football Division 3B. They next play Truagh away this Sunday 18th June at 4:00pm in Round 6 of the Reserve League Football Division 3B.
Senior Men League
Our Senior men played Inniskeen at home on Friday evening last in Round 6 of the Senior League. Hard luck to our Senior team and management in their 3-9 to 0-8 defeat. They next play Clontibret away this Friday June 16th at 8:00pm in Round 7 of the Senior League.
Junior Men’s League
Hard luck to the Junior men in their 3-12 to 0-8 defeat at home to Blackhill on Saturday last in Round 6 of the Junior League. They next play Rockcorry away this Sunday June 18th at 1:30pm in Round 7 of the Junior League.

Our Senior Ladies had no games in the past week. They next play at the end of June.

Monaghan Minors
Congratulations to the Monaghan Minors in their superb 1-16 to 1-8 win over the Connaught Champions Mayo in the All Ireland Minor Football Championship Quarter Final in Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday last. Well done to our Blues who played Tommy Mallen, Sean Óg McElwain, Donnchadh Connolly and Max Maguire, with superb points by Tommy Mallen (0-3) and Sean Óg McElwain (0-2). The Farney minors next play Kerry in the All Ireland Semi Final on Saturday 24th June. All the best to our Blues on the minor panel, Donnchadh Connolly,

Monaghan LGFA Minors
The Ulster Platinum Champions Monaghan are into the All Ireland Series where they play the Connaught champions (either Mayo or Galway) on Wednesday 19th July.

Monaghan U14 Girls
The Monaghan U14 girls played Down in the All Ireland Silver Final on Saturday last in Clan Na Gael Dundalk. Hard luck to the girls in their defeat, but well done to Brannagh Connolly and the U14 County girls and management for getting to the All Ireland Final and their Ulster success this year.

Our thanks to Ballerin GAA
Big thank you to Ballerin GAA in County Derry for hosting our squad at their excellent under 11.5 tournament on Saturday last. The lads had a super day and were narrowly beaten by 2 points in the cup final by a terrific Cookstown Fr Rocks GFC team. With our club connection through Cormac McIntyre and his son Jake we were given the warmest of welcomes. Well done to everyone involved!
Coach Seminar
Next Tuesday 20 June, Michael Gerard Doherty, author of the innovative coaching book ‘Live, Love, Learn Gaelic Games’ will deliver a practical seminar for our underage coaches, 7-8.30 pm in Kilmore. This will be especially valuable for our U6 -U10 group of coaches.

Health and Wellbeing
Scotstown GAA continues this year with its Healthy Club project which aims to help GAA clubs explore how they support the holistic health of their members and the communities they serve. We recently had nutritional talks for our U13 to U16 boys and girls’ players and parents. As we now enter the summer months and the football is up and running, we will be implementing Healthy initiatives soon and will update everyone as these happen.
Scotstown GAA Golf Classic
The 2023 Scotstown GAA Golf Classic is on in Rossmore Golf Club on Saturday 15th July Team of 4 with 3 course Dinner €200. Tee sponsorship is 100 euros and we over two and a half thousand euro worth of prizes for the event. To book your tee time, phone Shane Stirrat on 086 836 7997.
