Toome Club Notes 04.05.2023

U11’s: A huge well done to our under 11’s who played a match in Toome on Wednesday last, 26th April in a match against Currin. It was a cold evening but this did not wane the players enthusiasm and a great evenings entertainment was provided with some great skill on display. Well done to all the children and there were a lot of happy and proud parents on the way home. 
 
Intermediate League: Toome face Cremartin for Round 3 of the Intermediate League on Sunday 7th May at 2:00pm in St Victors Park. Please be sure to spread the word and come along to show your support. #BeThe16thMan.
 
Reserve Championship: Toome were the eventual winners of the Crawley Cup preliminary round against Sean McDermotts, on Friday last, 28th April. This game could have gone either way and despite Toome playing some good football, Seans matched them and had great determination about them, this was a match that could have gone either way, Toome held on through grit and determination and ran out winners by a point on a full-time score: Toome 1:12 – 1:11 Sean McDermotts. The Reserves next match is in 2B league on Wednesday 10th May. Please be sure to spread the word and come along to show your support. #BeThe16thMan.
 
Juvenile Training: The juveniles (4 – 11 years) continue to develop their skills with training each Tuesday evening at 6:30pm on the main field, see you all there. 
Please spread the word to your friends, family, neighbours and relations, new children are always very welcome. Thanks to all our coaches/mentors who give their time so generously.
 
U9’s: Well done to our under 9s team who took part in the first blitz of the year in Drumhowan on Saturday last, 29th April, a great morning was had and the children showcased all the skills they have picked up in training.
 
Breakfast Morning: Toome GFC would like to thank those who supported and attended our fundraiser breakfast morning on Sunday last 30th April, thiswas well attended and supported by the local community. The generosity of all who came was overwhelming. We would like to thank all those who donated produce for the breakfast. Annalitten Eggs, Keith Short Butchers, Eamon Byrne Butchers, Brendan McCahon, Joe Bishop and Monaghan Mushrooms. The morning would not have been possible without our fantastic cooks, servers, cleaners and volunteers. Rose McGinn, Martina McMahon, JJ McMahon, Rosaleen Sweeney, Margaret Donaghy, Éire McCabe, Irene Connolly, Sheila Callan, Meadow McCabe, Mary Kelly, Jim McArdle, Kevin McCabe, Coehn McCabe, Sean McMahon, Joseph McMahon, Cormac McDonnell, Frank Connolly, Andrew Connolly, Calum Sweeney and Fr. Daly. This was a great fundraiser for the club and was only possible by the hard work and time given by our volunteers, we sincerely thank you all for your kind donations.
Volunteers: If you would like to help the Club in any way at all, please get in touch with either Club Chairperson – Gene Cumiskey on 087 918 6629 or Club Secretary – Ryan McMahon on 087 743 1970. We really need the help in many areas, lining of the field, match day assistance, car parking, photography, announcing, live score updates, cleaners, servers, turnstile operators, score board operator, etc. If it is at all possible, that you can give to give the Club a few hours here and there please get in touch, we need your help especially if we are to succeed, this is all our Club and remember many hands make light work.

Development Works: Eoghan Donaghy and Mark McMahon continue working on the concrete plinth. If you can give any time at all it would be greatly appreciated. Sympathy: The Club and all our members would like to extend our sympathies to the family and many friends of Joseph Conlon, former Club player, who died tragically following an accident in Australia. All of the within the community were saddened to learn of the passing of Joe. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

The Club and all our members would like to extend our sympathies to the family and many friends of Paddy Mc Kenna, 5 Oliver Plunkett Park, Drumillard, Castleblayney, Monaghan, grandfather of senior club footballer Shane McCooey. Peacefully at his residence in the care of his loving family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
