Reserves: Our reserve team hosted Latton in the O’Duffy Cup Reserve Championship preliminary round on Thursday evening last, where they ran out winners on a scoreline of 2-10 to 0-14. This was a game for the ages, with both teams playing at championship intensity from the first whistle until the last. Aughnamullen got off to a rapid start, going 0-04 0-00 up in the opening minutes, which set the tone for the remainder of the game. When Stephen Geoghegan found the net in the 22nd minute to put us 1-06 to 0-02 up, the boys were well and truly in the driving seat. Latton scorer three points on the trot to dig into the lead, however a wonder goal from Ben McCabe, which proved crucial, followed by a free from Eddie McArdle, put us eight points to the good coming into the final quarter. The visitors piled on the pressure in the closing stages of the game, clawing back the game as each minute went by. Our lead was cut down to just two points, and deep into injury time it was backs against the wall as Latton threw the kitchen sink at our resolute defense, which came up trumps once again to hold out for a brilliant victory over our near neighbours. Whether it be Brian McConnell in full back or Bobby McCaul in midfield, who was the target of unsuccessful attacks from the opposition, each and every player stood up and put in a serious shift to get the win. They next play Donaghmoyne in the Quarter Final of the Championship at home on Sunday the 21st of May.

Their next game in the league is away to Corduff on Wednesday the 10th of May at 7.45pm. Come out and support the lads, best of luck to the team and management.
