Toome Club Notes 27.04.2023

By Majella Boyd Wed 26th Apr

U11’s: A huge well done to our under 11’s who made the journey to Clones Pace Link on Saturday last, 22nd April to play out a match in cold wet conditions. Although the weather was damp the spirits most deffinitely were not. The Toome U11’s put on a fantastic display of football and gave a good account of themselves accross all sections of the field. Some great scores were taken on the day and some very clever and tactical play was on display from these players. Huge thanks to all our cosches who give up their time and to the U11 team mentos Colin and Gary Wilson. Special mention to Caolan Cumiskey from the U11’s who played at half time during the recent Monaghan v Tyrone Ulster Q/F in Healey Park. Well done to all the children and there were a lot of happy and proud parents on the way home.
The U11’s will play Currin on Wednesday evening in Toome at 7:00pm all players to be at the field for 6:30pm. Come along and show your support.

Intermediate League: Toome travelled to Sean McDermotts on Sunday last, 23rd April for round 2 of the intermediate league. This was a very tough battle accross all areas of the field which prevented a free-flowing game, despite a shower prior to throw in, it was a great day for playing ball and the pitch was in good condition too. Toome played the better football in fairness with some quick passing and movement off the ball to create space and problems for the Sean’s backs, it was the accuracy of William Woods however, that ensured the points on the table were secured, scoring all his frees (8) and an incredible free just short of the 45 on the edge of the pitch and a 45 just for good measure. Toome were ran close at the end with 5 minutes of added time the Sean’s lads were throwing everything they had at the visitors and came close a couple of times throughout this match to hitting the onion bag only for a couple of very fine saves from Hugo Connelly. The backs gave a good account of themselves and done a fine job on keeping Seans out and quickly cleaning up any spillages at the back. James was to score one from play and a free and Frank joined the party with a free off the left.  Toome 0:12 – 0:10 Sean McDermotts. Next up is a visit to Cremartin for Round 3 of the Intermediate League on Sunday 7th May at 2:00pm in St Victors Park. Please be sure to spread the word and come along to show your support. #BeThe16thMan.
