Scor na nOg Ulster Final

Unfortunately, our Nuachleas just missed out in the Ulster final at the weekend after giving the best performance of the whole campaign. After weeks of intense practice and hard work our group executed their sketch to perfection and had the audience in stitches laughing from start to finish. The competitors, parents, family and friends all enjoyed a comforting cup of tea and refreshments back in St Mellans and got the chance to take a moment to reflect on the incredible achievement and memories of not only reaching an Ulster Final but more than deserving to win it only to narrowly miss out.

Although the result was disappointing, there can be no doubt that this team of Leah, Shay and Jane Mc Kenna, Páidí Mc Carey and Odhrán Mc Meel along with their mentors Claire Mc Meel, Gene Flood and Joe Mc Carey are the pride of Truagh parish this weekend after giving such a thrilling performance. The work that they all put in is to be commended and Gaeil Triúcha have shown that our club belongs with all the other great clubs all over Ulster

This is a young group, and they will be back bigger and better than ever next year – watch this space!!!

Results:

U14’s

We had a great challenge game against Sean McDermotts on Saturday last, both well matched teams gave great all round performances and a well earned win for us. Thanks as always to parents and family for your support.

On Thursday evening we are hosting a challenge game against Aghaloo at 7pm.

Training continues on Thursday at 8pm.

U12’s

Well done to our U12 girls who had their first challenge game this morning against Scotstown GAA . Super effort by both teams.

Congratulations

The Sacrament of Confirmation is taking place in Truagh Parish on Saturday 22nd April, and we wish all those getting confirmed a lovely and peaceful day.

Congratulations to our senior player Eileen McKenna (Roe) and her husband Gary White on their marriage on Saturday past in St Patrick’s Church Clara with a reception afterwards in Enniskillen.

Well done also to our young actors who gave a great performance and done their families, club and county proud in the Novelty Act in Ulster Scor na nOg final.

Liathroid Laimhe.

St.Mellans Handball Club

Adult County Doubles & Master Competitions.

The second County Doubles final took place last Tuesday in St.Mellans, we hosted the “Novice B Doubles Final” as it was an all club final were we had Conor Fearon & Damon Hughes playing Chrissy Meehan & Johnny Mc Kenna(T), the first game never got going for Conor or Damon as Chrissy & Johnny put their stamp on proceedings early on and ran into an early 9-0 lead before Conor & Damon responded, with things not going to plan and not getting time to get into rhythm Chrissy & Johnny couldn’t be caught and ran away with the first game 21-4, but after dusting themselves down Conor & Damon came out swinging and started to play, it was point for point throughout with no team taking any sort of leads to worry about until around 14-14 then Conor & Damon rattled off a few un-responded points to take the 2nd game to force a tie-breaker 21-15, having sensed the comeback Chrissy & Johnny started of the tie-breaker in the same fashion as the first game and never allowed Conor & Damon any time to make a foot hold in the game and won it 11-2 to secure the title, a good game boys that could have went either way but congrats Chrissy & Johnny on the victory, unfortunately Aidan Kerr & Joe Kelly didn’t make the “Novice A Final” so now Damien Mc Rory & John Mc Carron face Michael & Robbie Duffy in the final, the date of the final has been pushed back to May the 4th in Carrrickmacross, good luck boys, in the “Masters A Singles” John Treanor will play Paul Cassidy in the final, it is fixed for St.Mellans on Monday coming the 24th, good luck both, we also have a busy night Friday as we are to host the Senior Final, Intermediate final and the Ladies Open Final, play beginning at 7pm.

Feile na nGael Team’23.

We have entered 2 teams for this year’s Feile na nGael competition, it is fixed for Galway venues on the 29th of April as far as we know now, but with fixtures hopefully out tomorrow (21st) we will have a clearer picture then, good luck Myles Mc Meel, Harry Treanor, Odhran Mc Meel, Conor Treanor, Enda Mc Anenly, Ciaran Treanor, Fintan Treanor, Senan Treanor & Fiachra Kelly, keep the pressure on for the last week boys and let’s hope for more “Feile” glory like last year!!!!!!!, good luck boys.

Summer Social Play.

There will be some social “leisurely” play over the summer, starting on Mondays & Wednesdays from 7-8:30, then all will see when it goes after if it will turn into a league as it progresses, due to the Feile training over the next week Eon is going to move the summer play to Tuesdays & Thursdays, thanks all for co-operation.
