Adult Ulster Doubles. It was hard luck for Aoibhinn Mc Cluskey & Fiona Flood as they lost their Ladies “Junior B Doubles” Ulster Final last Sunday in Beragh to Erin Connolly & Clare Conway representing Co.Tyrone, the first game our ladies went toe to toe with the Tyrone pair, no matter what was thrown at them they returned replied and was asking a lot of questions of their opponents, going point for point Fiona & Aoibhinn lead one stage 13-9 and was looking good, but after a few ins & outs the Tyrone pair got over the line 21-13, then after the confidence of the taking of the first game the Tyrone team never let up and drove on to take the second game and title 21-6, the score line didn’t represent the level of play from all 4 ladies as many spectators saying it was a great game to watch with some great picks from everyone all around the court, and possibly with a bit more court time together the journey could have continued for the Monaghan ladies, but well played ladies again doing club & county proud, “suas na mna”.
Adult County Doubles & Master Competitions. The remaining county adult competitions are now reaching a conclusion and we still have some club members in the running for silverware, in the “Masters Singles” John Treanor and Paul Cassidy are in semi-finals tonight (April 6th) in Bawn and Carrickmacross, in the adult doubles we have an all club final in the County “Junior” were we have John Treanor & Fergal O Neill taking on Eoin Treanor & Patrick Mc Kenna, it was fixed for Tuesday past the 4th, so report next week, in “Novice A” Damien Mc Rory & John Mc Carron are in the final hoping Aidan Kerr & Joe Kelly will be joining as they have to play Michael & Robbie Duffy in the semi next Wednesday the 12th in
Bawn, good luck boys, and the “Novice B” county final is also an all club final where Conor Fearon & Damon Hughes played Chrissy Meehan & Johnny Mc Kenna(T) also Tuesday past in Mellans, report next week.
Juvenile Presentation. We had a great night Friday past in St.Mellans with the juvenile leagues presentations taking centre stage, it was great see so many young enthusiastic club members in attendances, firstly Eoin called up the beginners and represented them with club certs for their beginning years play, then all the trophies were handed out to winners & runners-up in the league run throughout the year, we also had coaches on hand to present on the night, and all was wrapped up with a few slices of pizza’s, a very enjoyable evening for all!!!, again a massive thanks Eoin for setting up the evening and also setting up and keeping an eye on the leagues throughout the year, and to all that helped out in any way on the night, let’s hope to see these young players progress onto many years of handballing for club, county, province and maybe country if the opportunity arose, roll on 23’24 season, the future is bright!!!!, “gach dunie le cheile, nios laidre” check out Facebook for all photo’s on the night.
Feile na nGael Team’23. This year’s Feile nan Gael has been launched and as anticipated it is “U15” this year again, it is fixed for Connaught this year 29th, 30th of April & May 1st, so we will be messaging out to see who wishes to take part, if we enter a team it will be a short sharp training camp with all being wrapped up in 4 weeks.
