Doohamlet Clun Notes 27.04.2023

Doohamlet G.F.C. results: Our senior team played Emyvale on Sunday afternoon in Doohamlet in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League R2 and came away with a well-deserved two points.  Our first score of the game came from a free by Colin Walshe.  In the first half, both teams traded scores with four points from Barry Mc Bennett, two from frees and two from play, and a point from Jason Mc Elroy.  Doohamlet went one point up at half-time with the scoreline being Doohamlet 0-6 Emyvale 0-5.  The second half started with a quick goal for Emyvale.   Barry Mc Bennett converted a free five minutes later.  Jamie Walshe replaces David McGinn  Doohamlet hit a purple patch with Barry Mc Bennett hitting a further three points two from play and one from a free, Ciaran Markey hits a point from play and Jamie Walshe puts two over the bar from play, and brother Colin with another point.  Darren Connolly replaces Mark Burns and Cillian Walshe replaces Ciaran Markey. Emyvale gets a point from a free and a goal which brings them right back into the game.  Our keeper James Casey made a couple of vital saves in succession. Doohamlet keeps fighting back and a point from Oisin O Neill and a converted free from Barry Mc Bennett secures a four-point win for Doohamlet.  The final score-line was Doohamlet 0-16 Emyvale  2- 06.  A good all-round performance with some good defending and some great scores and a great performance from Captain Barry Mc Bennett stepping up to the mark and scoring nine points
