Intermediate League Round 2

Toome were our visitors on Sunday last for round two of the league. This would be a feisty affair with both teams eager to stamp their authority. The first half was score for score for much of the period. However, the Seans, kicked a number of wides which would have given them the advantage at the break but instead they trailed by two points. A sluggish start to the second half by the lads gave Toome further scores from frees and this would be costly. The visitors pushed on to a six point margin at one stage but in the final quarter the lads revived their first half drive and clocked up four points but once again they were beaten by the clock. This is an exceptionally tough competition where every game is as important as the next. Our next outing is the Reserve Championship Preliminary round on Friday against, who else, but Toome away.

U18’s

The lads had a Friday night outing , at home, to Na Mullaí Sarsfields. Coming from defeat in the last round, it was important that the Seans set the tone for an improvement. A strong lead at the break was enough to secure the game and it gave game time to the lads who have been on the fringe of the squad. Well done in getting the win but a tough task on Tuesday in Truagh will test their metal.

U15’s

The U15’s entertained Inniskeen last Thursday evening for their league game. This was a great end to end game from start to finish. Some terrific scores slotted over by both sides as the game was played at a ferrous pace. The Seans were controlling the game for long periods but a slip in concentration in the second half allowed the visitors in for goals and our fate was sealed despite our efforts in the dying minutes. Hard luck to the lads but it’s a learning curve and we move on to the next game.
