Ulster Senior County Football Championship Quarter Final Result – Monaghan 2-17 Tyrone 1-18

Monaghan secured an Ulster Semi Final spot with an incredible win against Tyrone away in Omagh on a balmy beautiful spring Sunday. What was surely one of the most entertaining end to end nerve wrecking intercounty games in recent times, ended with Ryan O’Toole scoring an astonishing last minute decisive winning goal, deep in injury time. The Farney men were down by 6 points at one stage towards the end of the first half, but responded strongly in the second half with an almighty comeback against the 2021 All Ireland Champions. Well done to all the Monaghan players, manager Vinny Corey and his management team in this amazing victory. Congratulations to all our Blues who played and put it such an immense effort with some superb scoring including Ryan O’Toole (1-1), Conor McCarthy & Jack McCarron (2 points each), Rory Beggan (with superb keeping and accurate distribution of passing including for Carrick Emmet’s Stephen O’Hanlon’s superb goal), Darren Hughes (another fine high work rate game) and our 2 Blues subs who made a remarkable impact in the second half with an outstanding performance, Shane Carey (0-1) and Kieran Hughes. Ryan O’Toole’s audacious, nerveless and courageous goal in the final minute has been well lauded in the national media over the past week and deservedly so. Well done Ryan, the vast majority of players would have fisted the point looking for the equaliser to take the game into extra time, but Ryan’s quick thinking brought the victory with distinguished self-belief and courage.

Monaghan next play the current Ulster champions Derry in the Ulster Championship Semi Final on Saturday 29th April at 5:00pm. Venue TBC. All the best to our Blues on the County panel, Rory Beggan, Shane Carey, Darren Hughes, Kieran Hughes, Jack McCarron, Conor McCarthy, Michael McCarville, and Ryan O’Toole, and the rest of the Monaghan team, and the management. You can get your tickets in McMahons Centra Scotstown.

Congratulations to Rory Beggan, Conor McCarthy and Ryan O’Toole for making the GAA Team of the Week.

Massive congratulations to 3 of our Blues for making the GAA Team of the week after the superb performance by Monaghan against Tyrone yesterday. Well done to Rory Beggan, Conor McCarthy and Ryan O’Toole whose astonishing last gasp goal won the game. Also congratulations to Clontibret’s Conor McManus and Tyholland’s Karl O’Connell for also making the GAA Team of the week.
